This was not planned. We were heading to Lithuania and we saw signs for Rundale Palace. It may have helped that we had the palace all to ourselves but it was great to see this restored palace.

Beautiful palace, easy to reach by bus for a day trip from Riga. Impressive set of lavish rooms to rival the palaces of St Petersburg. Vast gardens but covered in snow when we visited in November

They’re one in the same, but the Museum tour (highly recommended!) includes a visit to the Versailles-like gardens. Hordes of tour groups thronged through these palatial rooms that house...More

How long should a visit with the short route take? How about the long route? Trying to figure out how much time to reserve for our visit as we will be doing a lot of driving on the day we visit. Thanks.

You would need I think at least a couple of hours to take this whole place in. There is lots of history with so much to see, inside and out
We are visiting on a Saturday in July. Do we need to book in advance (8 people)? Are there guided tours in English? Do we have to take a tour?
