The sand covered church, or the Old Skagen Church is a testament to standing ones ground. The church was built in the 14th century, and was the largest church in the area. Problem is it was built on top of what most would call a...More

Very old church (actually only the tower left). A special story behind it. If you are from the US you will love it, because of the age:) Advice: Rent a bike for the tour from Skagen, that will expand the value.

Short walk to view. TV crew shooting a popular Danish serial present so couldn,t look inside. Could still feel the history.

This ruin was interesting built in the 14th century , it was once the biggest church in the area until the 17th century when sand drifted and covered it, the church goers had to dig their way in. In1795 it closed and part was torn...More

Went here on a tour it is only the peak that is still visible as the main church is now in the sand. However its marked where the rest is so there is not much to actually see they also charge to enter.

I don’t quite believe that the church is covered by sand. If they want me to believe in it, then they should dig the top of the roof free.

The walk to this church is beautiful. I loved wondering through the paths on bike. The church itself is arresting. A reminder that it's an ever changing world and we should work with nature.

our bus was taking us on a tour and went by here, although, it was not as expected, nice enough, but hoping for more. Nice scenery for photos.

I totally thought we were going to see a church half covered with sand, but it turns out that the tower is all there is, the "rest" of the church was destroyed long ago. It's still beautiful though. You can climb up to the tower...More

Depending on where your ship is. You cannot walk from Skagen harbor to the church in 1 hour. Same thing for the Grenen where the oceans meet. But both have lovely works.
