This 14 century church is well worth a visit even though only the tower is visible by now. For many years the people of Skagen fought to keep the church free of the many sand storms and moving dunes. In 1795 they finally gave up...More

Tower is the only thing that you can see remaining, although at first you might think how there is nothing special about the sight. The church, however, is not what you see since it is long gone under piles of sand. You can climb for...More

This site is always very special to visit and something makes you go into this "imaginary" state of mind. Once there was a church; now eaten by the sand.

If you have a car or bike, this place is close by. It shows in a very clear way that we can not decide over nature. And that sand is not only a good thing to have. It can be a curse as this church...More

We wanted to visit this burried church because it has such a weird story. So we walked from the cruise terminal using the small streets of Skagen and the small trails that are around the church. If you want to do that you must be...More

I was a little disappointed at first, as I had expected the whole church to still be there (a little reading first might have helped) The church tower is all that is left, but you can go to the top (not very many steps) -...More

It is amazing to see nature do what its going to do. The first time we saw this church was about 7 or 8 years ago and I couldn't believe how much more of it is buried now!! It is worth the 5 minute drive...More

It's marked 1 km but we believe it was much further to reach this scenic destination. However, you can't go inside and it doesn't look as "buried" as we expected.

Nice place with tons of nature outside. Quite unusual to see just the tower of a church sticking out of the sand, but I agree - there's too little info about it. And charging 20 kr just for the entrance to the tower is a...More

It's a fascinating concept just leaving the tower of a church buried in the sand centuries ago. In a lovely natural area a few miles from Skagen and is worth the trek. I would have liked to have a little more info about the church...More

Depending on where your ship is. You cannot walk from Skagen harbor to the church in 1 hour. Same thing for the Grenen where the oceans meet. But both have lovely works.
