A world away from Lisbon and the south, this is a highly picturesque village of rather grand houses without any obtrusive 'developments' (though I don't think we need the 'statuary'). The trouble is, of course, that it depends largely on tourism, so in fact is mainly a well-kept museum, an anomoly that affects not just much of Portugal but all... More

Signature attraction of the lovely Ponte de Lima village. The village also has a nice market with local products and very good restaurants (apart from one or two tourist traps). There is a big parking free ground right in the centre on the edge of the river, making a visit easy, comfortable and pleasurable.

This was my second time back in Ponte de Lima and I cannot help but be amazed by the medieval Roman bridge. I loved taking pictures of the arches under the bridge and the reflections made on the water.

The bridge was decorated and lit for the festa novas ferias this week. Lovely walking bridge with a history. Quaint churches on wither side. The place has not lost its midaeval cultural and religious spirit. Come for the festa in September!

A nice Roman bridge to walk on. The bridge itself isn't that impressive (we've seen nicer) but views from it, to the river below and up the mountains, are worth a short stop by and a relaxing stroll from one side to the other. Allow yourself half an hour when around, but come from the western side of the bridge!... More

As bridges go this is one of the oldest not really much more you say about the bridge. Does have a very large free car-park on the town side.
