Lovely day trip . Beach reached by ferry from Tavira (2 euros return) past salt flats and flamingos .Plenty of places to eat on the island and some sun umbrellas but luckily not much else apart from endless unspoiled sand

A spotless beach that extends for miles along the seaward shore of tavira island. Accessed by local ferries there are a good selection of restaurants, toilets and cafes on the island near the ferry drop off quay. Some ancient and wrinkly nudists were present further...More

You have to reach the island by the ferry, it's a short trip up the river. There are several restaurants on the island, the loos are disgusting though. Would be great for children or if you like laying on the beach, nothing else there though.

There is a lot of sun & nice white sand here. It takes 2 euros/adult roundtrip from downtown Tavira on the ferry to get here - about 15-20 minutes to get there. They have a huge number of restaurants & bars. They have restrooms.

A short ferry journey takes you through the wetlands, home to flamingoes and other wading birds, and on to this huge sandbank with its beautiful beach. There are little homes scattered amongst the dunes (I wanted one!) and a vast collection of fish restaurants and...More

PS: yes, as other reviewer has said, the tiny ferry runs all the time from Quatras Aguas - winter and summer. But the town centre ferry - that goes up the river before crossing the sea stretch to the island - is definitely... More

I always walk. 30 minutes. Or there is the mini train (does not always run) or hired bikes - a popular route. Taxi will be cheap, as it's not far. If you walk it can get tiring if a hot day so wear su cream, a hat, and... More
