We spent a fantastic afternoon with wonderful guide Ben and several other kyakers paddling the breathtaking Flea Bay and the Pohatu Marine Park. The Penguins thrilled us with their presence in close proximity to our boats, and the bay was alive with much marine life. Ben's passion for this endangered penguin colony and the work being done by his company... More

My family and I, including my retired parents, took the Evening Tour right at the end of the season last week and were lucky enough to see lots of the cute little penguins both settled in their boxes and coming ashore for the night. Our guide, Benoit was fantastic, and clearly very passionate about the conservation efforts carried out at... More

Went there with a friend and all of her family that were visiting from the US and everyone absolutely loved the experience. The place is stunning and what they have done for the penguins is very impressive. Saw lots of little blue penguins, a yellow eyed penguin and lots of farm animals. It was great to see all the conservation... More

Very interesting to learn about the white flippered penguins and an opportunity to get up close and see them in their natural environment. Was also fantastic to here about the conservation efforts of the family. The scenic drive out to the farm is stunning.

A great day out, with Murray and Kevin; kayaks, penguins, sunshine. Very pleased to be passengers with a driver who knew the road. We weren't rushed, could paddle lesurely in my first kayak experience, and still had time for a good swim. Its reassuring to see the unexpected variety of wildlife in an ocean reserve after several years without the... More

Hi there, Thank you very much for this very nice comments ^-^ It is true that the road can be a bit scary and that is why we offer tours from Akaroa by 4WD mini-vans. Pohatu/Flea bay being so far away from civilization and being a marine reserve helped a lot with protecting the wildlife found within the bay. And... More

This is like nothing I've ever done before, a unique brilliant experience. Our French guide drove us there on the very steep road to the habitat. He was clearly very passionate about penguins and gave us lots of information. We put on camouflage and met the penguins the owners are looking after, amazing to see them up close and learn... More

Fantastic evening superbly guided by Murray. Would highly recommend and note that we were originally concerned it may be a tourist trap but it is certainly nothing close to that, so please don't change! Small group numbers and really wonderful to see the conservation efforts all the staff have been making over the years... Plenty of the little guys still... More

Kevin, our quick witted and personable authentic French tour guide was an encyclopedia of information. He amused us with his ability to handle our questions. It was fun reviewing the landscape the conservation efforts and seeing first hand how the Penguin population was being rehabilitated. This is an interactive, educational and fun tour. Prepare to be engaged.

I did the Twilight tour, there are 2 different tours.. The guide takes you over a long winding and very narrow dirt road with some nice views. During the drive you get a lot of information. Once you arrive at first you may think you are caught in a eco tourist trap, but after a while you get to what... More

Quite simply one of the best things I've ever done in New Zealand. Everything was perfect; the knowledgeable and friendly guides, the peaceful accommodation in beautiful Flea bay, the evening penguin tour and the sea kayak. My only disappointment was not being able to stay longer. Can't recommend this trip highly enough.
