Great land view
Apr 2021
Narrow road from Picton to Karaka Point reserve but the view from land of Queen Charlotte Sound worth it. Great parking and a long drop toilet on the short walk also

Short walk, fabulous view
Feb 2020
The road to get to this point was a little small for our massive camper van, but it was well worth it. The views are fantastic and the little walk to the "point" was interesting as there was information boards on the way. Well worth the trip.

Easy Historic Walk
Aug 2019
Karaka Point is not far from Picton on the way to Port Underwood ,a nice scenic drive , a short easy walk down to the beach with historic features & information a long the way , great sunsets & amazing views out into the Picton Harbour & beyond , great watching the ferry coming & going from Wellington & all the other little boats going out to the Islands around , water skiing , fishing etc & boating in general . There are other waking areas close by . A Great place to visit

Short, pretty, interesting

Short walk down to beach, with some information about historical features of ancient pa. We hung out on the beach skimming stones and watching boats and saw a pod of dolphins!

After snout track hard to compare
Dec 2018 • Couples
We had just finished the snout track which has amazing views. Unfortunately this track was a real let down in comparison with little views provided & not much effort required. There was a toilet at the track.

Interesting Walk
Nov 2018 • Solo
Karaka Point is steeped in history, with bloody battles between warring tribes etc. A pleasant short walk, along the way there are information signs, telling you what happened there in days gone by.

A great view.

A picnic table that you can drive to is a great option for the less mobile tourist. The toliet is down the hill a bit, so not as easy to get to for elderly etc, but a fantastic view from the carpark is worthy of a stop. There is a picnic table, so a nice area to have lunch. For those interested in a short walk down to the water, the track is well maintained. History is printed on signage, so that is an added bonus too.

Enjoyable and worthwhile walk
May 2018 • Couples
The Karaka Point Walk consists of historic sites, a lookout and a walk to the beach. There are steps to the beach so can be difficult for the less-mobile. It appears that the steps and safety barriers to the beach are recently installed. The beach is a small area and has excellent views.
