What a beautiful place. Blue sea, blue sky and lovely cooling breeze. We rented a house with amazing views, right on the sounds. It was lovely watching the tide coming in and going out, and the variety of wildlife there.

This was amazing. I wish I was in better health to walk more. But definitely doable for those with fairly good fitness. I hurt my back a few months before but was still able to do from torea to mistletoe. Up and down.... 407m climb, but worth the view. Will come back one day to walk it all. Recommend!

This walk is 15 km on a very good track. The first hour is all uphill (from sea level to about 200m), then an easy descent to sea level and again 200m uphill but on a gentle slope. The last hour is all downhill or flat. The brochure indicates 2+3 hours but even for 'non-prefessional' walkers it is easy in... More

Although not as spectacular as Milford Sound, the scenery is fantastic, clear water streams, crystal blue waterways, miles of trails

We had a great day sailing on QCS with our host M at our overnight rental in Anakiwa. The views were great, weather and wind perfect for a sail. Had the weather not cooperated, we could have done a few hikes, visited a protected island, taken a powerboat ride and / or swam instead. There are some peaceful places around... More

We arrived on a cruise ship into Picton and decided to take a trip out on a local cruise across Queen Charlotte sound. The Cruise was a double decker boat which was only filled enough that you were able to go inside and outside depending on what you preferred during the cruise. The scenery was amazing and along the way... More

Well....Picton was an alternative stop on our cruise as the Dunedin port was closed due to an expected storm. We headed north rather than south and ended up in Picton. We took a lovely catamaran ride of the vast, gorgeous Queen Charlotte Sound. There are some charming, intimate coves and lovely spots in the sound. What we found most interesting... More

We spent the day in Picton on the shores of Queen Charlotte Sound. It was a beautiful place made all the more so by the lovely sunny day. Lots of nice cafes, restaurants and bars in the township which you can't miss when walking along the waterfront. Walk over the coat hangar bridge for great photo opportunities higher above the... After a while, all sounds look the same so this one is typical of a typical sound. I did not find this one particularly inspiring.
