Spectacular scenery. It's actually impossible to miss if you're in Seward, since the forest literally surrounds the town! Really friendly and helpful forest rangers too!

We drove the Chugach National Forest en route from Seward to Anchorage. For about 40 miles, the Turnagain Arm was on the left side of the highway, and the Chugach National Forest was on the right side. It covers most of the eastern part of...More

This is a great National Forest with lots to offer (and lots of mosquitoes too!). Camp, hike, fish, ATV, endless opportunities. The part of the forest outside of Cordova, Alaska is very accessible from the Copper River Highway.

The most beautiful lake that we visited on our trip. We stopped here for lunch and were very surprised to find the place almost deserted. If we come back we would definitely stay at this campground. It is unbelievably picturesque.

We hiked the Haystack trail.. very well maintained and a great hike with awesome views. The gravel road gets more and more rutted the further you go.. so you have to go slow but it was fine.

We headed toward Girdwood which you drive along the coastline through the Chugach National Forest. Simply beautiful scenery very camera friendly. Spring thaw was going on so many waterfalls off the rock formations. Plenty of hiking trails - very lovely!

Cordova is an amazing little town, with great people and beautiful scenery. It does rain a lot and the weather can be very unpredictable so be prepared for anything.

A must see if you are in Alaska! I went there for a job interview and didn't want to leave. The views are incredible, and the berries grow right next to the gravel roads nd wildlife abound everywhere. My trip was during the salmon season,...More

There are some great camping spots and hiking trails through the National Park. It's located just off the highway about an hour drive south of Anchorage. Portage glacier in the main attraction.
