There are few rides in northern Arizona that equal this one in ease of access and spectacular views. Often, getting to a scenic spot requires some difficult dirt roads, but this one is paved end-to-end. For the best views, start in Prescott. The road takes you up Yeager canyon and, although it is switchbacks all the way, it presents no... More

Take the extra 15 mins to soak in the views along this Canyon route. Breathtaking scenery along the way. The topography changes and you get a sense of the diversity of Arizona

AZ 89A is a total experience of beauty, adventure and hill climbing. It is quite winding in places but worth the drive. Some of the best views in this part of AZ. Be sure to stop in Jerome on your way. A really interesting small town! If you have a rental I recommend a mid-size because of the high elevations... More

Driving from Sedona AZ and back to Prescott is definitely the way to go. With all of the hairpin turns and switchbacks, it is better to go up than down. Jerome is literally built on many steep cliffs, and winding your way up the rode is breathtaking and beautiful.

Travelling the road from Prescott, AZ through Jerome to Cottonwood, AZ was a thrill ride to say the least. As the two lane road wound its way through the mountains and canyons, it was better than going to an amusement park. As a passenger in the car, there were times that I could not see the canyon floor below. Guiderails... More

Having visited many landmarks in 4 states during our roadtrip, I must say that driving through US 89 has been the highlight of our trip. Seeing the endless boulders and canyons as far as the eye can see is truly awe-inspiring! We've had to stop a few times on the road to take pictures. We've marveled the beautiful scenery almost... Coming from the Grand Canyon with a destination of Cottonwood, we were directed to take 89A. What a neat road. Switchbacks, beautiful views of Oak Creek Canyon, cliffs, headlights coming up the road. Ohhhh forgot to say, we did this road for the first time at 8 PM in September. Yup dark and a wild ride. The second time we... More

Great drive with beautiful scenery and fun driving. Take a friend and switch responsibilities. One drive and one takes in the views the switch it up once you leave Sedona. Be careful of the pullouts as they are rarely announced or marked by signs. have some fun with spirited driving.

If you like driving trips which take you through different biomes and an opportunity to see a lot of the state, this is great highway to use. We took the long way around and started at Ash Fork and took 89 south from I40 through a number of small communities including Paulden and Chino Valley. This area is off the... More

We were headed from Sedona to the Grand Canyon and were looking forward to the Oak Creek Canyon route, having read so much about it. I really thought after Sedona not much would compare except perhaps the Grand Canyon, but was I mistaken. Simply beautiful scenery. We were on a mission and didn't have time to stop which was gutting.... More
