Easy drive from Phoenix to the Superstition Mountains. Rent a Jeep and take the Apache trail, which includes about 23 miles of gravel roads. The road is passable in most regular cars, but there are side roads which can be explored with a vehicle with...More

These mountains, a majestic backdrop to Phoenix urban sprawl, have not lost anything of their appeal or mystery. The stories about mines and gold are just frontier lore or fantasy (there does not seem to have been any gold here, ever), but who cares, the...More

Just incredible landscape, amazing trails, and a must visit! Put the superstitions behind ya and yes - bring your best camera cell phone! Absolutely stunning! We spent the day exploring, bring sunscreen and plenty of water!

There is something here for every hiker. Trails are well maintained and typically signed but many are remote and primitive. There are many difference access points depending how far from civilization you want to be. Its hard to believe you can find this much wildness...More

This is a beautiful high mountainous desert that is absolutely gorgeous. The century old landscape eroding through time complimented with new growth & a great variety of cacti, trees & rocks make it a very interesting area to discover.
