Great skiing and tubing even at 28% capacity

We rented a ski boat, skis and tubes for the day at the Marina and had a great day on the water. Went mid week so no crowds and lots of open water to play on.

Although the lake was very low the fishing was great. Boat launch a little difficult, need 4 wheel drive, because the lake is so low.

Be aware the only launch available for boats at this point is glory hole. The other launches are closed due to low lake levels. There is a hand launch for small boats near the bridge. They were pulling many of the houseboats out of the lake when I was there last week. The fishing was ok, caught a few trout... More

With the lake currently at 24% of capacity due to severe drought conditions! I would advise all boaters and swimmers to use extreme caution. I normally buy a season pass for this lake because it is close to where I live but I did not this year because of the lake level. I'm not sure it is worth risking your... More

My wife and I wanted to do something a little different this spring break. After looking around we discovered houseboat rentals on Lake New Melones through houseboats.com. It was a fantastic experience! The boat was spacious and comfortable (we could have brought another family to share the experience!) and very well appointed (satellite TV!?!). The lake was low, but still... More

Just had my 45th birthday party on New Melones Lake. Like every year, we rent a Bluewater ski boat and a 10-person party boat (go online to houseboats.com and rent early - they sell out quick) and take a crew of friends & family out for a day on the lake. Fill the cars with gas at Glory Hole -... More

Yet another fab weekend on the lake. We always have a fantastic time here boating and wakeboarding and the prices are super reasonable. Plenty of parking, picnic areas etc. Even when the lake is low - it is big with lots of bays - so you are not always on the lookout for other boats. Always room for everyone. The... More

Just got back from a 3-day fishing trip to New Melones Lake. We thought we had prepared ourselves for what to expect by reading comments on forums for several weeks beforehand. Evidently, people who do not catch anything refuse to post comments, maybe for fear of looking as if they are inept. I have been fishing my entire life, both... More
