An excellent way to spend a couple of hours. This town really takes you back in time. We spent 2 hours there and managed to see almost everything. The guided tours are worthwhile. Depending on the season, take lots of sunscreen, a hat and some water. There is very little shade from the 40* sun.

Before Bodie I've visited a couple of ghost cities in the Death Valley, so I was expecting or ruined houses or rebuilt ones. Bodie is simply fantastic. A journey to the past where the time has been stopped.

This summer we toured California, and this city was one of our stops. We loved it, for his history and huge differences with European cilture. We highly suugest the ranger tour, price is 6 dollarsand it lasts one hour, you get inside the main building and you are shown how the gold was produced and much more, really interesting.

Visited in early May with snow still on the ground. Arrived quite early in the day and before peak season, so the village was indeed deserted (bar only 3-4 other people). The buildings are under a controlled decline, and park wardens have avoided the temptation of 'recreating' some weird/fake western-style village. I would urge visitors to also visit the cemetry,... While it was really interesting to see this old town, I was disappointed in what little care this historic town is getting. Everything is full of dust and it seems like nothing is being talen care of. Dust contributes to the decay of the town and the interiors. Maybe they don't make enough to keep it clean, but if they... Well worth a visit to this historical town that is locked in time. I highly recommend the tour of the mine - check for the time of the tour. Take the weather into consideration when planning your trip. It's a beau

Being a history nut, I loved stepping back in time. As you walked the dirt streets you can almost hear the children playing, adults conversing and the family dog digging in the dirt. A peek into a window of one of the abandoned structures will give you a glimpse of a life from the past. A town that was once... More

Great experience. Nice to see that there exist places like bodie where neither disney or universal have had any influence. No stage actors, fake shows, just the real thing. Be sure to take the mining tour, just usd 6.

Bodie, is a ghost town in the hills of Sierra Nevada. It began as a mining town in 1859 by discovery of gold and soon became a wild west boom town. Over the years Bodie's mines produced gold valued at $34mil. At it's peak Bodie had over 65 saloons and a thriving "red light" district, also a Chinatown with plentiful... More
