The Gaviota Wind Caves is a moderate 2.5 mile round-trip hike. There are some steeper sections and some loose stones to navigate around. However, if you are in decent shape, and take your time, you will be rewarded with some outstanding views. I highly recommend...More

Cold in December but still a great stop for a nature walk. Saw lots of marine life and few people given the cold (60ish) temps and wind.

It extends from the Pacific coast to the crest of the Santa Ynez Mountains, and is adjacent to Los Padres National Forest. The 2,787-acre park...More

While the campsite has the close intimate feel of a refugee camp, the setting is worth a stop - a cute little beach, it's own towering railway trestle and a very worthwhile walk up to the wind caves. Not sure it is a constant feature,...More

We stay at the Gaviota State Park campground at the very last night of our 3 weeks cruise around USA. By far, this was the most expensive campground we´ve been to during our stay. 52 dollars is really not a reasonable price for what you...More

Gaviota State Park has a bunch of different hikes you can do, but we chose to hike Gaviota Hot Springs and then continue upwards to Gaviota Peak (via Fire Road). The hot springs are very cool to see, and smell with sulphur. Luke warm water,...More

My family made this a short stop on our Pacific Coast Highway road trip. We managed to time it perfectly so that we arrived just in time to watch the sun set. The pier was closed when we were there, but you could walk up...More

We parked in the park ($10) but could have saved some money by parking on the road to the right, south/east of the train tracks. The wind caves trail actually starts there. The campground itself is not very attractive, very dusty. The store is very...More

Check the wind report for sure, as this spot is notorious for catching a swirly gust of the stuff! The center sites are extremely close, so you will be camping with other families within extremely close proximity. Everyone is really nice though. People start talking...More
