The climb up was indeed difficult but with every switchback the scenery was so breathtaking with the abundance of wildflowers and snow covered mountains that we had no trouble continuing on. We saw every color of flower imaginable contrasting seamlessly with the many shades of...More

some of the most stunning views I've seen while hiking have been on this trail. It can be challenging, in parts, but if you take your time and drink plenty of water then even a novice can enjoy this trail. Definitely worth every second!

I loved this hike. I have lived in Colorado my entire life and this was gorgeous. The hike though the forest was wonderful. The mountain views were awesome and when you get to the lake it's perfect to take a break and eat a cliff...More

After reading all the great reviews on this site and others I was expecting a lot more. Quite frankly, I don't understand the hype at all. I rate hikes based on whether the effort you put into them (length, elevation change, etc) are worth the...More

We hiked to Lower Blue Lake only as we did not have a ton of time in Ouray area, we wanted to check some other things out that day and not spend the whole day hiking. We got to the parking lot around 8:30am, the...More

We chose this trail into the Mt. Sneffel's Wilderness because it was rated as #1 in the area. It certainly is! The first 2/3 is pretty steep but then the trail moderates on up to the first Blue Lake. Older hikers definitely use hiking poles...More

We live in CO and hike frequently, but this is my favorite day hike to date! The views, waterfalls (a lot of them!), wildflowers and the lake were spectacular! It's a great workout from the trailhead at the end of the jeep road, so from...More

Some of the best fields of wildflowers I have ever seen - around Lower Blue lake. 3.3 miles of up hill well maintained trail to Lower Blue lake. We met some other hikers - all very friendly and talkative, sharing experiences. Took lots of photos...More

Beautiful Hike with incredible scenery. Driving to the top of the falls was a little sporty but made it just fine with a small suv. Would highly recommend. With plenty of breaks...took us 3-4 hrs round trip.

This trail has become a victim of its own popularity. Parking is becoming near impossible and if you are looking for a wilderness experience, this no longer is the case. People do not leash their dogs and they run after the wildlife. Not a good...More

This year the mountains are at 250% of their normal snow levels...so if you have avalanche training then sure, but the lakes won't be out for quite some time. did you go?
