We chose this trail into the Mt. Sneffel's Wilderness because it was rated as #1 in the area. It certainly is! The first 2/3 is pretty steep but then the trail moderates on up to the first Blue Lake. Older hikers definitely use hiking poles for the ascent and descent back to the trailhead.

We live in CO and hike frequently, but this is my favorite day hike to date! The views, waterfalls (a lot of them!), wildflowers and the lake were spectacular! It's a great workout from the trailhead at the end of the jeep road, so from the bottom it's an all day hike for most! If you have a jeep with... More

Some of the best fields of wildflowers I have ever seen - around Lower Blue lake. 3.3 miles of up hill well maintained trail to Lower Blue lake. We met some other hikers - all very friendly and talkative, sharing experiences. Took lots of photos of the flowers on the way up and back, The reflections in the lake of... More

Beautiful Hike with incredible scenery. Driving to the top of the falls was a little sporty but made it just fine with a small suv. Would highly recommend. With plenty of breaks...took us 3-4 hrs round trip.

This trail has become a victim of its own popularity. Parking is becoming near impossible and if you are looking for a wilderness experience, this no longer is the case. People do not leash their dogs and they run after the wildlife. Not a good choice for families with children, rather steep.

This is a very popular hike, lots of people, even on a monday. You can backpack in or camp at the trail head (free) and hike all three lakes the next day. I highly recommend this hike! We did this on our anniversary last summer.

Breathtaking nature with several springs and waterfalls. Remember to drive all the way up to the beginning of the trail (we walked up the hill and used too much of our strength). It's uphill most of the way to the lake. We can highly recommend it!

We loved this trail, it had a nice balance of shady and sunny parts and the payoff was incredible. Get there early for parking in July (before 9am), and while the road was passable in a sedan, it was slow going for the duration (8 miles). Just take your time and go with the flow. Truly one of the best!

Fantastic hike to one of the most picturesque places I've ever visited. It's about 6.6 miles round trip. It's pretty steep and narrow in some places, but not a technical hike. If you're in pretty good shape, you should be fine. Bring lots of water and be prepared for chilly mountain breezes at the lake. Highly recommend!!!

This trail offers an edge of the world feel in just over three miles of (moderate to strenuous) hiking. Hands down one of the best hikes I've been on. Take the time to visit all three lakes, the middle lake seems to have the most trout. This is excellent backcountry camping. The road to get here is a little rough... More
