Love walking, and bike riding, on the Farmington River Trail. I am out there 2, or 3, times per week. The trail is varied, interesting and well maintained. I generally ride in the towns of Collinsville, Burlington, Unionville, Farmington and Avon. I am never bored, with so many choices and easy parking. I have ridden the trail every month of... More

We absolutely love the rail trail system that has taken off in so many states. This trail is especially lovely as it connects to the longer Farmington Canal Heritage trail as well. The River Trail is shorter and I think more scenic. It is mostly paved and off road except for a few sections that have you on the roads... More

I was in this area for a girls weekend and this was a perfect way to be outside and get some exercise. The path is well marked and paved. I think the better way to really experience it would be by bicycle. There are a few places along the way that actually let you borrow a bike for free! We... More

10 miles of smooth paved trail. We parked at new Britain Ave & Red Oak Hill, south end. Beware lots of traffic crossings, some dangerous. The first 2.5 miles has 5 road crossings, then 5 miles of GREAT riding along river. The last 2.5 miles through Collinsville to Canton has 7 road crossings. So if you have kids, park in... More

This is an excellent bike trail; totally paved, no cars, can ride from Plainville CT to Southwick Mass and beyond. You can actually start in New Haven but there is still a portion that goes on city roads in Southington. Marked, flashing lights at the street crossings. Beautiful varied scenery, especially nice in the Fall and Spring. Some areas near... More

It is a great trail in the woods and thanks to lots of shade it is a very pleasant place even on a hot summer day. It seems like a perfect place for a walk or bike ride. Last Sunday I went on about 22 mile afternoon bike ride with my husband which we really enjoyed. We started at the... More

The Farmington River Trail is a great trail for walking, running, biking, roller-blading, walking a baby in a carriage, etc. I have been on this trail probably fifty times in the last year or two. This trail is 25 miles long. I usually get on the trail in the Collinsville/Burlington area on Route 179. In this area, the trail is... More

A beautiful walk, jog or bike. Nice paved path follows the river bed. Nature at it's finest! Trail is 34 miles long and you can take any section of it you want.

The Farmington River Trail is a great place to walk dogs, ride bikes, or just walk. It has beautiful views of the river the whole way.

I only walked a portion of the trail as it goes along the Farmington river in Burlington, Ct. I found it mostly flat, obstruction-free, and heavily populated with walkers, joggers, bikes, and skaters. Many people walking dogs. Pretty scenery along the river--some road noise as well. Easy access. Multiple benches set up along the way as well.
