I have been floating, swimming, canoeing & kayaking down this river since I was a kid. The paths I follow may differ years to years but some remain the same. It is always an adventure down here because the floods can change the path so every year there is something new to look forward to. It is usually a nice... More

Best river I've ever floated. There are only one or two places where the rapids are pretty darn fast. However, because there are so many springs, the water height is always great, and the current lets you go as fast as you want, or be as lazy as you want. Great places to stop and picnic, drink a beverage, or... More

I hate to oversell an adventure but canoeing down the North Fork of the White River is truly one of the neatest adventures you'll ever do. Start as high up as the water level will allow (Topaz) and you'll pass beautiful bluffs, caves, springs, mills, etc. as you float on beautiful clear water flowing over a limestone bottom. Make it... This campground and popular swimming spot is popular with families for floating/kayaking the river, although a few just come to swim and tent camp. We had our RV with us and (sadly) learned that the campsite had no hookups. The one-and-only site that had electric and water was situated on such a steep incline it was actually dangerous to stay... I floated this river last year and will return in the next two weeks. The water is cold and clear. I floated the trophy trout waters of this magnificent river. I put in at Blair Access with my MOKAI and had the river to my self, went up to and past River Of Life Resort. There is a rocky falls,... More

We just floated this part of the river last weekend. The water level was perfect. moving nicely. areas of ripples and a waterfall to go over (or not). Had a great time with a group. We stayed at Twin Bridges campground and canoe rental. Have been there before they take good care of you there.

Several different float trips of various lengths available. Float trips on weekdays are quiet and peaceful. Seeing wildlife such as deer is likely. I live nearby and took my son and grandson from Tulsa and they can't wait to go again. We took a four hour float from Hebron to Twin Bridges. Fished some, had lunch on a gravel bar... More

Not often one gets a decent float on the last weekend of June during a drought, but this trip was worth the drive from Joplin. Put in at Twin Bridges, took out at Blair, with two kayaks and one canoe, we drug a little and only had to portage once. The cold spring water was a lifesaver on the 102... More

This is close to home for us, so we visit often. If you have your own kayaks, canoes or tubes - it can be free or almost free. A good float in a canoe or kayak is from Hammond to Blair. Another option is from Blair to Dawt Mill. You will have to pay a fee to take out at... More

for anyone interested in a great canoeing river for fun or for fishing the North Fork of the White River near Dora, Missouri (East of Ava, west of West Plains) is great. The 10 mile trip between Hammond and Blair Bridge includes Blue Spring to jump into (7 million gallons water per day), Rainbow Springs (130 million gallons per day... More
