The drive over the Beartooth Highway is an exhilarating experience. It not for the faint of heart, as the road is narrow, steep, and twisty, but the spectacular views are well worth the trip. We highly recommend this drive.

Beautiful, breathtaking drive! It can a bit freaky if you are afraid of heights. I recommend having a flexible schedule if going in June. The road status can change quickly. Part of the highway was closed due to snow the night before we were going...More

If you are heading to Yellowstone from Billings MT, or leaving Yellowstone via its Northeast Entrance, definitely DO IT (of course, when the road is open). Don't be intimidated by the zigzags on the map. It might look scary at the first, but the road...More

You really can't say enough about the views. I ride this on the bike a couple times a year and it never gets old. June Maybe cold on top and even July and August you will want a jacket.

Absolutely beautiful scenery beyond belief. A photographer's dream. Do not miss this drive. We meandered from Red Lodge to Cooke City and were just blown away by the shear views this drive has. Make sure camera is charged and plenty of memory for pics.

Simple breathtaking, the road had to be in the top 10 scenic road in the world. The day was perfect for this. At the zenit you could drive through 20 ft snow walls (in June!), after big tractors cleaned the road probable couple days before....More

The Bear tooth Highway between Montana and Wyoming is not for the fainthearted, climbing to 10,900ft and requiring driving around hairpin bends. But it definitely is worth the effort! Care needs to be taken with the weather forecast. But if the elements are on your...More

We did this Highway Not only Once but Twice in 48 Hours. Awesome riding with sightseeing that is breathtaking. The switchbacks are phenomenal and riding takes on a new perspective.

Want to do Beartooth Hwy in August. We will be starting and stopping in Billings as we will need to drop our horse trailer to make the drive. Trying to decide if we want to drive to the summit and Top of the World then turn around and go downhill back to Billings or do a loop byway of Beartooth to include Chief Joseph and back to Billings by way of Belfry, MT. Which will be the shorter driving time and safest (flatlander from the east coast) of these two routes?

Check that it's more like 125 miles or so given the speed limit figure about three hours but like I said we did not go to Cody so it should be a shorter drive
