We went to the area upon returning from staying at Soldier Meadows Guest Ranch as a way to short cut the bumpy washboard road heading back to Gerlach. The huge dry lakebed or playa was vast and beautiful. Do not drive on the playa though when it is wet. The place is so energizing as well as relaxing and beautiful.... More

I went to the Black Rock Desert on a whim, not sure where I was heading. Found the little town of Gerlach, Nv and began exploring with some local feedback soon found the desert and bordering mountains. Warning signs said not to drive on the desert when it was wet- Darned if there was NOT a huge lake in the... More

Retrospectively the most challenging, energising and reawakening fortnight of my entire life! So mindblowingly beautiful and totally life changing 😍 Can't unable to articulate or quantify exactly how it impacts you. You just have to experience it for yourself first hand!

There are notable events held in the Black Rock desert outside of just Burning Man. Once a year people in the high-power rocketry community from all around the world congregate at Black Rock for the BALLS launches. They feature a 500,000' flight ceiling covered under an FAA waiver. The best amateur rocket projects from around the world are flow at... More

I took 2 days out of my life to flit among the wonderfully edgy people that keep this festival alive!!!!! THANK YOU Burners for such a short but memorable experience!!!! Everyone was so incredibly nice and welcoming... The art is amazing, the music thumps all night and all day, the dust is it's own show!!!! I left my GF's there... More

Almost got lost looking for the Hot Springs outside of Meadow, it's a wrong turn that I'll never forget for the rest of my life what a beautiful place to get lost in. I actually teared up when I was leaving and found my way again. What a wonderful place, with little beautiful towns and great people. A nice southern... More

This is the closest thing to utopia in my existence. It is every crazy story you've heard...and so much more. Going has changed my life. People usually go in search of something. Why else would anyone put up with the ridiculous queues, insane sun and altitude, dust storms and white-outs, and torrential rains that turn to muddy slip-and-slides? Because we,... More

I write a lot of travel reviews, but in this case I cannot describe to you what Burning Man is like. All I can tell you is to just go.

Everyone should at least spend 2-3 days at Black Rock City. It is one of the most amazing things to see an art driven culture / city appear in the middle of one of the least hospitable places on the planet for a week.
