Great park with great rangers

The rangers are very friendly and knowledgeable. Huge park with tons of outdoor activities. Don't go if you plan to sit on your rear.

Well, not that I dont appreciate natural landscapes, etc but my husband and I could have spent the time doing something more exciting. I was expecting some "wow" factor, but it was a pretty boring hum-drum drive. We stopped at a small Marina to have lunch. Friendly staff but very basic food. We drove the next day through Red Rock... It provides water to Arizona, California and Nevada. In 1947, Boulder Dam Recreation Area was renamed to Lake Mead National Recreation Area after Dr. Elwood Mead, former chairman... More

If going to visit Hoover Dam, visit HD first (as long lines form during the day), then visit Lake Mead. $20 car entrance fee and map given for free. We took the well signposted roads to view the receding Lake Mead. It is scary to see how the road to the marina ends abruptly as the water levels of the... More

After swinging by Hoover Dam, check out Lake Mead. There is a picnic area with clean bathrooms, and grills (in case you want to barbecue). Beautiful and scenic.

A really nice place not far outside Las Vegas. I think a lot of oeoplecfrom the city come here, we definitely get the impression that there were more locals there than tourists! It was still a bit chilly when we went ery early on a May morning so we didn't swim, actually I don't even know if you can? Lovely... More

Expansive National Park and Recreation area very close to Las Vegas with rugged hiking opportunities but also lots of choices for boating and car touring. You can visit Hoover Dam by auto or take a 7 mile round trip hike from the visitor center through the railroad tunnels remaining from the dam construction days. Bring your own boat or rent... More

On our 3rd vegas trip we decided to take in lake mead and we certainly don't regret it. We took the noon cruise initially then decided to rent a pontoon boat to fill out our day and we absolutely enjoyed the day and the lake . We sailed right behind the Hoover dam!

Didn't hike, but enjoyed the views from the car and the Hoover Dam. Stopped at the Visitors Center and the rangers there were very helpful and informative - told us about a few photo ops nearby. Definitely worth stopping for some quick pics. Only a short distance from Vegas.

Thank Andrea B
