This is an historic site with a few buildings preserved from the time of early Mormons arriving along the Virgin River. There is also a cemetery dating to this time period. While this is probably not a place that would interest children, anyone interested in history of the 1800's, early farming, or photography would likely enjoy this spot. You reach... More

I realize this stop may not be for everyone, but my husband and I loved visiting Grafton. Being a fan of the movie "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid," this was a must-see for me. Yes, there are only a few remaining buildings, but we were able to independently tour them. The town's history was fascinating as was the visit... More

Stopped in on our way to Zion--like someone else had said I would only make the effort if I was on my way to Zion--I do not recommend going out of your way to see it. But do stop and make it a part of your Zion adventure. You can actually go into some of the buildings and get a... More

We were returning from an atv tour which was just a few minutes from this town. Our guide recommended that we stop here since we were close by. It was not at all what I pictured in my mind of how it would look. There are just a few buildings that were easily accessible. We spent just a few minutes... More

This place is fun to visit. Only 3 buildings, but each are quite unique. The history of this place is also interesting. We visited at dusk and took some fun photos. I wouldn't go twice, but it is worth the 3 miles drive on a gravel road to take a look. There is also a cemetery to visit just down... More

We were planning to cross the mountain south of Zion, a difficult dirt road. On the way we talked to an elder and made the trip to Grafton, just a couple of miles drive down a dirt road. To our surprise we found what is left of a settlement of 160+ people in the late 1800's! The church and a... More

Cute little abandoned town with a big history. Great spot for a family picnic. Well maintained dirt road got us there just fine in a mini-van.

Once you get into Rockville, driving on highway 9, begin looking for a small sign telling you where to turn. You will turn south. If you get through town, turn around and look again. I THINK it is across from a produce stand. Drive across the old and historical bridge and follow the road to the right. It will become... More

Do not expect to spend a long time here, but it is definitely worth a visit. It is a visit on your own sort of ghost town at the end of a gravel road just outside Zions National Park. It's history us quite interesting, and if you like frontier towns with a history, Grafton is worth visiting. Do not miss... More

We stopped here on the way driving from Zion to Las Vegas. Took no more than 15 min off the main road to reach. Although you pass the turn off for the cemetery first, we opted to visit the little settlement first. Much refurbishment has been done and currently continues. The house at the end (past the schoolhouse) was open... More
