My wife and I visited this state park on a Sunday in early October. It had rained heavily the previous day and overnight and it was particularly windy - courtesy of Hurricane Matthew (?) We walked the wide, gravelled Boyd Hole trail down to the small beach with an overlook. It was extremely windy here and the water was the... More

Sorry for the flooding on the trail. We have that issue with sandy soil. We have had way too much rain lately, even before Matthew's remnants visited. Thank you for taking the time to write a review. More

We went to Caledon State Park on a winter break, and thoroughly enjoyed the hike down to the beach. My two daughters and I navigated the trails and found some of the eagle or birding platforms a real treat when we reached the river. But we were sad to see so much debris that washed up on the shore (especially... More

We take day trips here to skip rocks in the river and picnic after walking the trails. There is a protected eagles nest area and a visitor center located in an old family home that has a ton of information, clean restrooms and park gifts. The trails are very wide and easy to walk but you can also get some... More

Caledon State park is a great place to get into the fauna of the Potomac River and Virginia shoreline. This is a park where you get close to nature through several hiking trails (mostly flat), some Park Ranger guided tours (including kayak tours to see Bald Eagles), and to spend a quiet time away from the noise of civilization. Do... More

Caledon State Park has a good number of trails that are relatively short in length (about 2miles). It is very peaceful. When we arrived there was plenty of parking. We walked into the visitor center and was greeted by the Natural Resources employee. He was very helpful, telling us about the history of the park and its buildings. He recommended... More

We attended the One Fish Two Fish program last weekend. We had a wonderful time. My little one loved the wagon ride to the river's edge. She also loved seeing the fish and pulling the nets. The hiking is lovely. There is an overview of the Potomac or if you're feeling like you want to see more... you can hike... More

Although highly ranked by others, this is an average park. It's a good hike, but nothing special. It does have good rolling hills & seems like a great place for trail running. I would have rated this park higher if the trails to the river hadn't been closed to the public due to, "deteriorating conditions". As of March 11th, 2015.... More

Sorry for the trail conditions when you visited. We had an unusual amount of snow and rain in the late winter and our natural trails became impassible. More

Since it is now Sept. , there was not anyone else there.WE were able to take a Nice long hike down to the Potomac River Overlook. The trails were very scenic with the woods and greenery surrounding us. We had a quiet walk without any disturbances from families with small children who whine because it was too far for small children... More
