Inspiring quotes. Spectacular views.

Go early in the morning or toward sunset for the best lighting. Make sure to go around the entire monument on the outside.

I was in the past already here in Washington DC, but I didn't have a chance to visit this very famous monument. I was impressed to be there. I liked to see the way America payed homage tho one of the greatest Present that created the base of real democracy and equality. Being there inspired me, It made me think... More

This beautiful and incredibly impressive memorial to Honest Abe is truly inspirational. As deep as divisions are today in our country, they are not likely to lead to a Civil War. That any individual, let alone one with little political or military experience, could successfully prosecute the War and also emancipate slaves is almost incomprehensible. It showed courage that few... More

President Lincoln's 2 more famous quotes are etched in marble at the monument. He is timeless and said so much in those few words...politicians as well as others would be wise to chose words wisely

Finding parking and getting to the actual statue is no easy task. I highly suggest having someone drop you off near the location and circle around a few times until you're ready to leave. Once you approach the memorial you will have a slight truck up 57 stairs. The statue itself is encased by three walls, making it difficult to... More

Another must see in DC - like everything else! Evidently, a place of pilgrimage for many Americans - i.e. LOTs of people, so don't wait on it clearing for photographs! The high for me was buying a pocket biography of Marian Anderson in the little on-site bookshop (on the right hand side at the top of the steps). There are... More

Everyone should visit this at least once. To see and read about the history of the US and appreciate the sacrifices of our fellow Americans who help build and lay down the principles for future generations that this represents.

It's best to go either early in the morning or at sunset, the afternoons make the memorials jam packed with people

Such an awesome day! Visiting this monument gave me chills. It's a must on the sights. We visited on a floating holiday therefore not many people were out and about and this made the day even better.
