Good view of white house

Went to front view of white house which looked close to gate but realized that more popular view is the back of white as it is used more often in hollywood movies.

Of course if you are coming for inauguration you must go by the White House! Just to stand in front of something so historical was amazing. My 7 yr old enjoyed it very much.

Tours weren't available the day we visited. Picture above with the lawn is the back of the house. We had arrived on the other side of the building, then ran around to find the familiar side seen on the news. Beautiful gardens and lawn. Beautiful building and home to the Potus. Many others were against the black barred gate keeping... More

Had the wonderful opportunity to visit the White House to see the Christmas decorations. Very nicely decorated for Christmas. Very helpful volunteers will to give lots of info and history of the rooms and the White House. Must have your congressman get you access.

This is a must see at least once in your life. Its not as impressive as I thought it would be, and its right on the street. I guess I was expecting lots of acres and the White House being far from the road...but its right there in front of you. Of course lots of security and dogs. But still... More

The White House is awesome! After our plans to visit DC was finalized, we talked about wanting to see the White House up close. First off, planning to visit the White House requires time, lots of it. I made a request to visit through our representative as the website suggested and got a reply that it might be closed due... More

Waited outside in a very long line, went through three security check points, walked down a couple of hallways and around a couple of corners and was on the way back outside. A self guided tour of about four rooms with a christmas tree in every room. Had to request the pass three months in advance and was inside for... More

The day we viewed, it must have been a high security day. The road in front of the White House was shut down, locked down, and roped off by Secret Security. When they ask you not to cross the tape, they mean it. Don't tempt them as others would accidentally step off the curb to the street and quickly yelled... More

Everything is roped off and totally obscured by temporary structures through the 21st (maybe even 22nd).

This is one that you should see but it isn't very exciting. With recent security measures you can't get to close. It's a bit of a shoving match to get a good view of the White House as many don't take a picture and leave. Pack your patience and be mindful of others. If you're hoping for a group picture... More
