Reviewed yesterday

We did not go inside, but the guard there was very helpful in explaining how money was distributed as well as what is done with weathered, unusable dollar bills.

Movie was ok. Tour was boring. Guide was monotone and sounded like he was reading a script. Luckily it was short. Need to book ahead or they'll kick you out.

BEP is just a printing shop BUT the pre-tour video you see is the real learning experience. The history of the origin only dates back to Lincoln and then the other info you hear explains your unanswered questions. Most of the wall displays or the...More

We were a little disappointed with this tour. The facility is very dated and in need of some tlc. You have to show up and specific times to get free tickets for time slots to tour. This is a hassle and hard to locate. Once...More

The BEP is awesome. There are two types of tours available to the general public. Prior planning is required to take the tour and there are prescribe times to start the tours. The tour guides are great and the things you see are very interesting.

Nice tour of out an hour showing how the dollars are made and a bit of history thrown in The exhibits at the entrance are interesting and the gift shop has some worthy items.

If you enjoy looking at sheets of paper then you might enjoy this tour. I thought we'd get a few samples to take home. Seriously, there is not a lot to see and our tour guide was difficult to hear and understand. Little children may...More

You need free tickets to get the tour which lasted about an hour so plan a bit if you want to go here. There is parking across the street in a private lot. Its very interesting to see the process of how the greenbacks are...More

We requested a tour through our Senator's office about 3 months out. Our tour started on time with a brief introductory movie. Then our guide, Jordan, took us on an approx 45 minute tour. It was very "in the box" meaning you see exactly four...More

It's mostly a guided tour for about 25 minutes so one hour should be enough. There are a few displays in the ending area.

I will have a backpack with bottled water and snacks. Is this allowed, and if not where is a good place to leave it? We are visiting for the day and are riding the metro into dc.

Yes, you can carry water and bags inside (you only are allowed in observation areas, so there aren't restrictions).

I am coming to Washington from August 23 thru the 27th. My granddaughter wants to visit the Bureau of Engraving and Printing. We are not necessarily interested in taking an actual tour and getting tickets @ early in the morning would be logistically difficult. do we need a ticket if we do not want to take the tour?
