A monument is definitely very important for those who somehow related to this war's veterans. I believe this memorial should be different

I am a Vietnam Vet and this was my second visit to the memorial. It is very solemn there. Many visitors. It's tough as a vet to be there but I think it is important to go and respect our brothers who did not come...More

we planned a trip to visit my sis and happened upon the Vet's Wall on Vetrean's Day. The vets in uniform and their war garb was epic. Vets sharing stories, hugging and just sitting staring at the wall brought tears to my eyes. There arent...More

This was an extraordinary achievement for the young woman who designed this memorial, which, in its time, was unique. It is still and will always be a moving tribute to all who served and died in Vietnam, and it has brought closure to many family...More

This memorial is beautiful. While it is very simple, it fills one with complex emotions. There are many books so people can find where their loved ones names are on the wall. Take a pencil and a piece of paper (I believe there are some...More

They need more plaques to tell the history and layout of the wall - there were two veterans there who were inundated with questions but did well answering them all. Well worth the visit.

So many names, so sad. It is very well laid out, so if you're looking for a name it is very easy to locate that person.

This is a wonderful tribute to our Vietnam Veterans. This memorial sparked a lot of conversation from my children and we discussed the war, how we got involved, and why there was so much dissention from the public.

This memorial is amazing - I was lucky to visit on a walking tour and the story about the design and how it came about enhanced the visit. It looks so simple but the thought that went into it is impressive. A must see for...More

The Vietnam Veterans Memorial is an excellent tribute and memorial to all those who served and perished there. The names on the wall are haunting, but a good and fitting way to remember everyone specifically and individually. Moving.

Off the top of my head, the Smithsonian stop puts you out right in the middle of the national mall, so you'd still have a bit of a walk. Not too far though.

I think your vet friend needs to fill out an application at the honor flight website. I believe the guardians/escorts are volunteers or staff members of honor flight and anyone accompanying the veteran would have to pay for... More
