My family and I went and had a GREAT time! Our soon to be 5 year old son really enjoyed the T-Rex exhibits, my wife liked the Hope Diamond and the massive African Elephant and Human Origins were my favorites. The line to come in...More

There are very interesting exhibits about geology, gemology, animals, etc. There is an IMAX theater that provides a choice of scientific 3D movies at various times throughout the day. The food in the cafe is way overpriced & not a good value for the quality.

Packed with people and long line especially slow due to searches and metal detectors. Similar to boarding a plane at airport. Lots to see. Place is huge. Went in the butterfly exhibit. $6 you enter an enclosed room and take photos while they fly all...More

Like museums everywhere this one is organized into exhibits, but the scope and variety of the Museum of Natural History are exceptional. The exhibits would appeal to all age groups as they are visually engaging, there are videos and interactive displays and the majority of...More

This has been my favorite museum since I was a child. Initially, the grand hall/foyer and first floor exhibit halls was all I used to see, but as I got older I discovered the other floors, which hold the most amazing exhibits I seen anywhere.

We visited this museum twice during our visit. It was the choice of my 10 year old. The exhibits are vast but are accessible. They are many videos included to explain. There's a great collection of stuffed animals and dinosaurs. The line to enter is...More

The hallmark dinosaur is gone but taking its place are some new exhibits. This museum is great for all ages and you can tell by how busy this place is.

Great exhibitions with something for everyone. I particularly enjoyed the gemstone collection. The Hope diamond (which I hadn't realised was in the museum) was a particular favourite.

The museum of natural history has everything-geology, the Hope diamond, Neanderthals, cave replicas, under the sea exhibits- there's just so much to explore. The hundreds of teenagers there seemed to love it.

Hi! My son is very interested in visiting the Smithsonian in DC to see the Dinosaur exhibit. I read that the main exhibit is closed while it is being remodeled. My question is: Are there dinosaurs still on exhibit (enough to travel from NY to see)? Is there a lot of dinosaur related stuff? And if so, is there a real T-Rex skeleton (on my sons "must see list")? Thanks so much!

Agreed with everyone above - there isn't much for dinosaurs. There's a great full T-Rex in Chicago at the Field Museum. I live here so I realize this may not be convenient for you right now but you should put that on your... More
