Awesome!!

So much to see !! It took us at least 5 hours to get thru the museum and that was rushing it because we didn't want to miss our bus back to Arlington. Loved it !!

It is one of the most popular museums in DC, especially for families with children. But adults can enjoy it too. I like the IMAX movies shown at the museum. One about the National Parks, which is currently showing, is just fantastic. The screen is huge: six-stories high, apparently. The surround-sound system is also terrific. The movies are G rated,... Huge number of exhibits. The evolution of man, concepts and presentation were excellent. Jewelry and gems exhibit is a must. The mammal exhibit is also good. Nature photography winners were the best part of the day. Many more we could not get to see. Definitely a return visit is in order.

It's always worth a visit to the collected natural objects of wonder such as the Hope diamond and fossils. This visit we looked at the exhibit of wildlife photography on display, and really enjoyed those captured moments in our world. A wonderful capture by the camera was a cuddling moment between a polar bear and her cub, taken near Churchill,... More

A spectacular museum and a must visit. Huge collections of animals, fossils, marine life, etc. I loved the curious section of this museum where you can touch and get information about super old fossils. A must see to appreciate the blessing of what Nature has provided.

This. Museum has something for everyone. Gems (I can never see the Hope Diamond too many times!), dinosaurs, butterflies, IMAX movies, ocean displays and a mummy!

While on business in DC, I always try to take in one of the many museums if my schedule permits. This trip I meandered over to the Museum of Natural History. I did not have a lot of time so I focused a couple of exhibits....African Elephant (recently restored), Ocean Hall, Gem Exhibit including the Hope Diamond. The highlight was... More

One could spend an entire day in this Museum and still not view all the exhibits. Our latest visit, we spent over two hours in the Gems, Geology, and Minerals section, and had to leave without appreciating everything that this section offerred, due to time constraints. Admission is free, close parking may be crowded early in the day.

This is one of those places where you could walk around all day and still not see everything. A fantastic way to spend time slowly wandering around. The cafe inside was also great and very reasonable so having lunch there is no problem.

This museum is a favorite for kids - lots of animals represented throughout the exhibits (even the dead ones in the fossil rooms!). The Hope Diamond is a star attraction here and the gem room is interesting. There's currently an exhibit on Mummies which was interesting to see. Honestly, this one isn't my favorite Smithsonian Museum, but it's easy to... More
