About
Make a splash in our Nation’s Capital aboard the DC Ducks, 1942 amphibious transport vehicles used to support and carry troops during World War II. Today they are a great way to see Washington by both land and sea. Winding our way first through the monuments, the Mall, the Capitol and museums of the Smithsonian before splashing into the Potomac and under the flight path at Reagan National Airport. Its fun for all ages!

What a great and unusual way to see the city. Our guide was very informative and the speed of the truck provided a light breeze, a welcome respite from the heat.
Heading through traffic and hearing key facts was great but the best bit was travelling on the water.
The Potomac River was calm and quiet, only interrupted by the planes that you can nearly touch heading to Ronald Reagan airport!
I would highly recommend this tour

It was interesting and fun.
The vehicle was a blast and the "Captain" was a great tour guide and funny.
Approx 30 min land tour then 30 mins in the river then 30 mins return land tour.
Found online discount which made it very reasonable.

This was a 1:30 trip 30 minutes on the 30 minutes on water and 30 minutes back. Really enjoyable. Captain very knowledgable and had a good sense of humour probably one of the best trips.

We booked online for 10.30am but on arrival were told there was no 10.30am tour and rebooked for 11am.
The tour with Capt Bob was great - very informative and some humour thrown in. We saw most of the sights from both road and water.
I’d recommend this tour for all visitors to Washington.

The tour was full. We booked a day in advance. Was told weekend tours fill up. I have been on several duck tours and this was just average. The Captain certainly new the history part of his job but it needed a little bit of humor. I tuned him out at the end. Make sure you try to get some type of discount.

A must do experience when in Washington DC. Great fun going from land to water. A good mix of all the sights to see on land and then a completely different view from the river. Kids on board had a great time and were even allowed to steer the boat. Very informative and lots of fun compared to a regular bus tour. Would highly recommend.

Land part of the tour covers most monuments and important buildings. Driver, Bob, insize 50 petite, was funny and full of facts. Potomac cruise part gave another view worth going on. Bob gave the kids an opportunity to sit in the driver's seat and have their picture taken driving the boat. A bit pricy but everyone had fun, especially blowing on the quackers and having friends joining us!

Despite only 4 of us on this trip the Captain ensured we got the full tour, both on land and water. My husband and I decided on this Washington tour as it involved going out onto the river which none of the others did. We wanted something interesting and fun and this was exactly what we got. Would really recommend this, especially for families.

What a wonderful time we had today with Capt Steve and the DC Duck Tours. The day was perfect and the mood on the vehicle was terrific! Everyone had fun and really enjoyed the detail our Capt Steve provided thoughout the whole tour. Best $40 I've ever spent in DC.

How much do the Duck Tour and the Monuments by Moonlight tour overlap?
av1952

I have not done the Monuments Tour, but I do know that we viewed the few monuments from an angle that you can't see from a car or by foot. The Ducks tour was by far the most fun and enjoyable tour I think I have ever taken! I thought we would just cross the Potomac River and get to the other side and that woud be it, but golly--we were in the water for at least 20 min touring around and looking at things. Don't miss this opprotunity to ride a real 70 plus year old Army vehicle!
Can we bring snacks for the kids on board ( juice box, apple, crackers)?

I need help getting up steps, and they can be difficult if the rise between steps is too high. would I be able to do this?

The steps are re a little steep but they are closely spaced. There are handrails you can hold onto and the boat captain will help you get on board. I have difficulty climbing steps also and it was pretty easy. There is no rush to get on board the duck.
Would this attraction take me to the National Harbor?

I don't believe so. it takes you on the back side of the Pentagon and next to the approach runway for Reagan Airport in the Potomac but not National Harbor.

It would be better to reserve tickets on line. It will save a few dollars and you will be assured of a seat at your desired time

We are planning to take the duck tour during spring break. Our 3 year old and 5 month old boys will be with us.Are strollers allowed on board? We would have diaper bag and full size stroller with us. Please help.

The Duck is only accessible by a set of stairs (it is a WWII landing craft) so I don't think that strollers could get on board (if you intend to push the children in the strollers into the boat). If the strollers cold up and you can carry the children and the strollers on board then perhaps it could be done. Not sure.
