The Washington Monument is great, of course. I want to give you a word of warning: it's currently closed for repairs. Apparently the elevator is broken, and they're tired of needing rescue crews to schlep down the tourists who couldn't quite make it. No word on when it will reopen, but I heard not until spring.

It's an amazing monument, with great views over some of the other great places to see in DC. I went here during the day and at night.......both were amazing, but I think I preferred it at night. It is surrounded by a ring of American Flags, which gives you a true patriotic feeling. I would recommend seeing the Washington Monument... More

We went near Christmas so got to see the tree as well. The Washington Monument is Awesome! the flags all around are lit up and when we there on a cold windy night they were all waving majestically.

A "must-see" and a "can't miss"...well, you are going to have to see it and can't miss it if you do anything on the National Mall. Im not saying this is not impressive, but there isn't anything there. It was a nice sight to behold, but do it from a distance and move on. Plenty of other things to see... More

This is a must-see monument! Unfortunately, while you can still view it from street level, the interior and the viewing area at the top are closed for two years for much-needed repairs to the elevator. Visit the Lincoln Memorial instead, where you can take spectacular photos of the Washington Monument and Capitol Building.

This was cool to see in person. I could not have asked for a better day to get pictures of the flags in the wind. This is a must see.

It's impossible to visit DC without taking in the Washington Monument. Be certain you take the time to walk up to the structure to fully appreciate it's size. A symbol of our country, it is awe inspiring.
