This was probably my least favorite museum. I am not an art aficionado by any means, but I can appreciate the delicate balance of a Calder mobile, the humor of a bust made of chocolate, and the heaviness of the ink squares from manifestos. I...More

Personal favorite museum in DC! Its free, and hosts world renowned exhibits - what can be better than that! The Hirshhorn has wonderful staff all around - from docents to security guards! Another perk is that it's usually less crowded than the other museums along...More

I think I learned that I do not like most modern/abstract art. There is a nice, small Calder mobile type piece. In the basement, is a nice work titled "daily Bread" by an artist whose name I don't remember. In one room, there is a...More

The Hirshhorn Museum was interesting. Unfortunately some parts were under construction so we didn't get to see too much. The huge naked man in the corner was certainly a sight to be seen, though this and another painting is NSFW. Anyways it's worth checking out.

Its a pity, the museum has one of the best collections of sculpture in the region. They have removed it all to storage . Its all been replaced by a kind of contemporary art that is so tedious that it needs endless explanations to explain...More

Stopped here but it was close to closing so we didn't have long. Nice museum with eclectic pieces of art. Very unique canvases and worth the stop. Easy to access as it's near all other attractions.

Yet another visit. I just cannot visit Washington without going to the Hirshhorn to see what new they have served up since my last visit. This time I seem to have been taken with pieces from the collection that I had not seen before -...More

This is a world class modern art gallery. There is so much to see in DC its easy to miss this one, but it is absolutely worth it. You can easily spend a lot of time here and love every second of it.

The museum spans 3 levels - 2 were closed for renovation. The third floor was the only one open - contemporary art is not my taste, so frankly I didn't enjoy any of it!
