Overview
More
The Capitol is among the most architecturally impressive and symbolically important buildings in the world. The Senate and the House of Representatives have met here for more than two centuries. Begun in 1793, the Capitol has been built, burnt, rebuilt, extended, and restored; today, it stands as a monument not only to its builders but also to the American people and their government.

Nice building, but nothing more. I didn't have time to check if at possible to have a tour there. But the building itself is nice, and the surrounding environment also. It deserves a visit if you are in the area.

The best way to view the Capitol if you are a US citizen is to contact your representative and ask for a tour. We did that and there were only 4 people in our group compared to other groups that had 20-25 individuals. Also you...More

I've been to DC a dozen times, but never taken the time to do the capitol tour. Do it! It was worth the time and very well done. Go one step further and contact your senator and get a personal tour. We should have done...More

Great guided tour with audio device and a phenomenal history to learn about in this place. Even as a non-American I found it fascinating.

We visited recently and scheduled a tour through our local state representative. The tour was on time, they even offered us to go a bit earlier if we were ready and willing, which was a major help. The initial video, although short, was moving and...More

The artistry is beyond words. However, in a word- BEAUTY- is the US Capitol. We had a tour guide who was witty and fun. My biggest complaint is the length of the tour {an hour} as a result we didn't get a chance to explore...More

The beautiful and majestic U S Capitol is where the people govern by their direct representatives. No longer permitted to wander and take a leisure stroll through the Capitol there are escorted tours that run frequently throughout the day. The House of Representative Champer and...More

Hi Nancy, The tough part is that AID airport is much further away from the city than Regan airport. I didn't book tours, but made my own plans. You definitely have time to do something, but you need to prioritize what you... More

The one through your congressman is given by one of the congressman's staffers and in much smaller groups. We saw much more of the capital and could ask questions. In the one you book online is the public capital tour and... More

I would arrive at 8:00am. Try to get the tour for the Senators and Congressional Gallery also from their office building. It is well worth it. The difference between the public and private tours is the line you stand in... More
