Overview
More
The Capitol is among the most architecturally impressive and symbolically important buildings in the world. The Senate and the House of Representatives have met here for more than two centuries. Begun in 1793, the Capitol has been built, burnt, rebuilt, extended, and restored; today, it stands as a monument not only to its builders but also to the American people and their government.

We would step out of our hotel, looke to the right, and there it was. Unfortunately, with limited time, all we saw was the outside. Next time we will explore it more closely.

I was not able to get tickets beforehand, but came at 10 am and got right in after several 8th grade classes and went to the no-reservations line of about 30. Talked to a tour guide waiting for his tour while I was in line...More

Be sure to contact your congressman to get a private tour from one of their aides. You won't be disappointed and you can stay out of lines filled with touring school children during the summer.

We went on an official tour which took around an hour, and it was well worth it. We didnt pre-book but were lucky as we could join a tour immediately - worth pre-booking to be on the safe side. The tour started with a good...More

It’s own little world of clueless political lines in the sand. Met our states Senators and House members, spoke of lack of friendliness then slammed other party. Need to take responsibility for their actions and reach across the party line. Drop all the special items...More

We had a private tour and it was amazing. Our guide, John, knew everything about the capital and took us to the rooms that we see on TV. Don’t miss it.

A very impressive structure with loads of history. The tour is definitely worth it, otherwise you can't see much inside. Obviously security is super-strict and there are lots of lines but they move pretty quick for the tours. On the other hand, to get into...More
