It's hard to believe that it took 80 years to complete! They have used donations only so that is why it has taken so long. The construction is grand and plotted to a 1/32" of an inch. Pillars are huge and tall . We walked...More

We entered about 10:00am, paying an admission fee of $8.00 each (for seniors). The next guided tour wasn't to begin until somewhat later, but we caught up with one that had started. There were only a half-dozen people in each group and we were welcomed...More

The cathedral is a little off the beaten path, but I heartily recommend visiting. They have an audio guided tour for $5 above the entry fee, but take it for sure!! I was amazed at the history and the beautiful stained glass in this building....More

Beautiful Episcopal Church. Get there early enough before you close so that you can to to the top of the towers and see out over the National Mall and DC. The grounds are beautiful. Take a stroll through the Bishop's Garden.

The National Cathedral is a gorgeous building. The boys choir was practicing when we were there and the acoustics were amazing! Don't miss the chapels in the basement.

I am glad we went to see the cathedral. The service itself was very different than I expected. It was most rewarding from a historical and architectural perspective.

I don't know if there's a bad seat in the house, at least when the organ is being played. The pipes are at the front, but the horns are in the rear – and it's the most amazing organ I've ever heard in person. However, if... More
