I arrived before the doors opened at 10 and got to hear a few minutes of the fabulous organ. Our tour guide was fabulous and so informative. Have wanted to visit this place for years after reading it and it did not disappoint. We were able to go down to the chapels on the crypt level plus take the elevator... More

Absolutely incredible and well worth the time to tour this amazing piece of history in our country. Be sure to take a tour so you don't miss any of the incredible features and facts. Beautiful stained glass windows, the moon rock, the rose window, the gargoyles, the architecture, and so much more. If you have a chance to attend a... More

This was my second visit, and I hope to return again soon. It is wonderful to experience a newly built cathedral and understand what it would have been like to see Notre Dame or Westminster Abbey during the first year of completion. A moving monument to God and humankind.

What a treasure! Having visited cathedrals in other countries, I wanted to visit this one in our nation's capital. I was not disappointed. We took a tour that led by an engaging young woman who obviously loved the cathedral and was very knowledgeable. I would certainly recommend making a visit to the cathedral part of my DC trip.

Lynette and I here in Washington DC visiting her daughter. So while her daughters was at work, we figured it was a great time to take in some of the sights. First on our list was the National Cathedral. We have visited many large cathedrals in Europe, so why not see what our National Cathedral looks like, in comparison. It's... More

Thanks for visiting the National Cathedral while you were in town, and for taking some time to share thoughts about your visit. Our admission policy was instituted about three years ago, following the lead of many English cathedrals and churches, including St. Paul's London, Westminster Abbey, and Canterbury Cathedral. The funds from sightseeing--never charging for prayer or worship--help support the... More

After visiting here Inow understand that this is the 6th largest cathedral in the world, and the largest in the US. It is simply breathtaking. We stayed here for over an hour walking around. Make sure to take the elevator up to the top of the North Tower to take in some great city views. No charge.

Darth Vader Grotesque is a limestone grotesque by Jay Hall Carpenter. It is located at the Washington National Cathedral, Northwest, Washington, D.C., United States. The Darth Vader grotesque is one of many grotesques that are part of the National Cathedral's rain control system. The grotesques deflect rainwater by bouncing it off the tops of their heads and away from the... More

Easter and Christmas services at the Cathedral are not to be missed. The Cathedral lends itself for state funerals, special events and concerts of all kinds, and times for peaceful, solitary reflection. It is beautiful and varied; there is something for everyone here. It's prominent location on Massachusetts Avenue, on the highest part of Cleveland Park, gives it wonderful vistas... More

This cathedral will take your breath away. The interior in wonderful. While you can wander about on your own, you really must take a guided tour. You will learn so much! The architecture is on par with the great cathedrals of Europe. The grounds are beautiful. It is pretty far from the normal tourist areas around the city, but if... More
