Just a short walk from the Lincoln Memorial where he made the famous "I have a Dream" speech, this memorial to Martin Luther King is a beautiful monument. Many of his famous sayings are on plaques along the interior walls.

The MLK memorial was phenomenal! The symbolism of the structure speaks volumes. I love how it is facing the Jefferson memorial; what a great view night. The various quotes on the walls of the monument are so inspiring!

Memorial depicts King at the mountaintop. His most thought provoking quotes are stated along the walls on either side of the mountain. Great time to reflect on the Black experience in America.

I wasn't expecting much, I guess. In a city filled with memorials, what is really left to see? But this was impressive. (Hint: For really interesting feels, go over to the Jefferson Memorial (a slave owner) and look across the tidal pool at MLK. I don't know if it was intended, but it's a fascinating juxtaposition.)

Whether you live in the DC area or are visiting, you have to see the MLK memorial. Along with the Lincoln memorial, the MLK memorial is unforgettable. Inspiring. Humbling. Differing emotions for every individual. The quotes that are inscribed along the walls are timeless. Take the short walk from the National Mall and go see the MLK memorial...it will leave... More

Very impressive large sculpture of Martin Luther King, Jr. You could feel the wisdom and love of this great African American religious leader. I do wish they could have shown some idea of his greatness in the way the FDR memorial was laid out. Very good gift shop nearby.

This Memorial is more modern. It is truly worth seeing. AGAIN take the time to read each of the inscriptions. Can't help but wonder why MLK, Jr was perceived by some as such a threat. Whatever it is we've got going on now surely can't be our best...

A bigger than life monument to a great man. Loved the quotations carved in granite along the bordering wall. Amazing that one person had such great wisdom. Book/gift store was nice also. Bought several books and magnets. Wished for shirts with MLK sayings on them.

I like the design and love the setting. I only wish there were more information on site about his life and assassination.

This is a very moving sculpture and setting, right on the river, across the water from the Jefferson Memorial. DC Circulator bus has a stop here.
