After many visits to DC, finally visited Hillwood Estate. Am already looking forward to a return visit. I arrived at 10 am when it first opens and am glad I did, it did get a little busy. This is a beautiful museum with an overwhelming...More

I’ve been to Washington many times, and often stay in the area near the Zoo. However, I wasn’t familiar with this museum until I read about it in Trip Advisor. It is well worth a visit. The house is beautiful, and the collection of Russian...More

The grounds at the Hillwood Estate are magnificent. The estate does have a suggested donation of $18 per adult but they don’t demand it. It was worth every penny in my book. Many people brought a picnic lunch and were lounging reading a book in...More

Take the tour as you will learn a lot about Marjorie Meriwether Post and her collection. Gardens and greenhouses are beautiful and the gift shop has an interesting array of things to buy. Most people, like us, get there by taxi/Uber.

Probably not at the top of your list to visit, but it should be! Beautiful home and gardens, as well as exhibits. Unfortunately, it was raining when we visited so will need to go back again to enjoy the summer gardens.

This mansion/museum should have the name “Smithsonian “ in it. The collection is as unique and extensive as any that are on display at the Smithsonian museums. Most everything is the same as it would have been during the time that ms Post lives here....More

Ditto as above answers. The food at the cafe was very good and the seating is comfortable and even better on a warm day.
