It had been a while since our last visit. Really enjoyed touring the main house, dacha, green house and walking the grounds. The current display in the dacha based on Henry Middleton's service in Russia during several Presidential Administrations early in our Country's history was informative and interesting. We have toured Middleton Plantation in Charleston several times and found this... More

Experiencing the luxury of this historical house owned by Post cereal heiress Marjorie Merriweather Post is worth adding to the list of "must sees" while visiting the Washington DC area. And just when you think you have seen it all, there are the beautiful outdoor gardens.I toured this home in February but to really take in the beauty of the... More

Beautifull and elegant home of Marjiory Post. Wonderful collection of art, furniture, jewelry, French and Russian art. One of the most beautifull houses you will ever see.

Great place with the amazing museum, Japanese garden, Rose garden, French garden. It is better to go from April-October to see flowers and plans in bloom. This private museum has interesting events as well.

Though I have been visiting my sister in D.C. for years, I had never been to Hillwood Museum. Nestled on a secluded hillside in a tony D.C. neighborhood, the house and grounds should not be missed. Marjorie Meriweather Post built this house as her D.C. residence, one of three that she owned in the States, in addition to a summer... More

Gorgeous grounds, mansion, and collections hidden away from the Mall and tourist areas of Washington. Plan to spend a few hours - and go when the weather is nice enough to enjoy a stroll around the grounds. It is lovely. I especially enjoy the items in the house.

On my third trip to DC, I finally had the chance to get off of the beaten tourist path and see a few of the more lightly-visited sights in the area. Hillwood was definitely a favorite among these! The mansion and grounds are very fun to walk through. We did an audio tour, but they have guided tours too which... More

I was surprised how much I enjoyed visiting the Hillwood Museum and Gardens. My mother was visiting and always wanted to go there so we gave it a try. The holidays were a great time to visit, the decorations were gorgeous and added to the grandeur. I didn't know anything about Marjorie Merriweather Post and it was interesting to learn... More

Post was a great collector and her home is a fascinating look at a wealthy woman's residence. I spent more time here than I thought I would. Definitely worth the trip.

We have been visiting Hillwood Mansion for over 20 years. It's worth to get a yearly pass. If you want a quiet place to read hide in the garden and enjoy. If you want to see Marjorie Merriweather Post collection of Russian 18th-century and French decorative art collection you are in for a treat. Don't miss the Faberge eggs and... More
