This is an awesome underground place to watch jazz, and unique to other places in the neighborhood. It has that old time DC feeling. I'd recommend eating before arriving and just sipping on some wine or a cocktail during the show. The music was soulful and the venue intimate with great sound. Would recommend as a more interesting night out... More

Really cool underground spot to catch some jazz. Ambiance and acoustics really great. You'll really enjoy if you go with modest expectations about food and service.

One star because the terrible service and food very pricey! It took one hour to tell us that what we ordered was not available. We ordered something else to know after 30 minutes that it was not available. We ordered the last 4 entrées and what we got was 4 small portions of a very expensive cheap food with only... More

This is a nice place for jazz music with friendly atmosphere and good location around several other restaurants and bars. The entry door is somewhat strange as it suppose to look a bit like a rock but it might be difficult to recognise that it is in fact a door. The place itself is in a cellar decorated as a... More

I loved the concept of this experience, centrally located and three floors of entertainment, however the service in the restaurant bar was marginal at best and I am being very kind... Downstairs the service was better not great but better, the food was good and the drinks were potent and reasonably priced. Parking was next door but $20.00 a pop.... More

Granted, the room could use some fresh paint and fabreeze, but as for the music, it was absolutely stunning! Will definitely go back, see what else they offer.

As a blue note, blues alley veteran was willing to give the place benefit of the doubt as this was (they say) Duke Ellington's nest- went durnig the Dc jazz festival kick-off and left feeling like I was in amateur hour.. Didn't even finish the set.. such a shame for a supposed landmark..

What a terrific venue. Perfect size, good layout, making for an intimate experience. Tip - sit on the side opposite the drums and as close to the band as possible for great views of the artists in action. I recommend viewing the artist on YouTube prior to going to make sure the music is to your liking. The food is... More

I went to the Bohemian Caverns to see the Christian Scott Quintet on January 25th. That was our first time every visiting this venue. We were amused that it was literally made to look like a cavern. It's a very dark and intimate setting. You really get an up-close and personal experience with the artist. The table seating is first... More
