Our two hour walk was an eyeopener. Mind you, we've lived in Washington for 33 years, but we didn't know too much about Franklin Square, Thomas Circle or Logan Circle, all featured on this tour. From the monuments to the churches to the mansions to the middle class homes, our guide Carolyn had a great depth of knowledge. There wasn't... More

Glad to hear you feel Logan Circle merits a repeat visit. Agree! Following the signs along the self-guided "A Fitting Tribute: Logan Circle Heritage Trail" would be the perfect follow-up to our walking tour. Thank you very much for attending! -Carolyn Crouch, Founder, Washington Walks More

Very well done tour. Meeting place was at Rosssyn metro so very easy to fine. I've lived in the DC area for over 30 years and I love these tours as they remind of how much this city has to offer. I go to places that I haven't been to in years. This island is a truly wonderful oasis in... More

This esoteric tour was quite a surprise. We learned about an aqueduct over a river( that was crazy) a mill and a quarry which is along the C &O canal. The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and presented the information in an easy to understand manner. In fact, he has written several books on the history of the D.C. area... More

Author and tour guide Garrett Peck is a Washington, D.C. treasure. Literally thousands of locals and visitors have expanded their knowledge of and appreciation for the city's history thanks to his walking tours and books. We count ourselves lucky to have him as a colleague and guest guide for Washington Walks. The tour of the Seneca Quarry he led was... More

My wife, a friend and I took a walking tour of the U Street area this weekend. U Street in Washington DC was the home of a thriving black jazz community in the first half of the 20th century. Performers such as Duke Ellington got their start there, and the area attracted both white and black patrons. Long-time DC residents,... More

Great you could join the walk of D.C.'s Southwest waterfront neighborhood. Thank you for attending! Having access to Ft. Leslie J. McNair and the famous (infamous?) Grant Hall was rewarding. It's an under-the-radar site that is always fun to show customers. -Carolyn Crouch, Founder, Washington Walks More

Had a great morning tour of Embassy Row. Our guide was well-informed and interactive. We met near DuPont circle then moved up Mass Ave learning about the luxurious mansions and their interesting original owners as well as the embassies that now call them home. The walk itself was relatively short, easy and flat. Cost was $20. Would recommend

Our tour guide was excellent. She knew a lot, was able to answer questions in detail and welcomed the input from the people on the tour who had lived here for years. She spoke very clearly. Good job.

On Leroy Place, in addition to a number of embassies, there are gorgeous buildings with wonderful details. DC is full of unique detail that will delight the artist, historian, and tourist.

Could agree more. The charming street you explored (thank you for the artful photographs!) is in D.C.'s Kalorama neighborhood, one the city's most beautiful. In fact, the name Kalorama is derived from the Greek term for "beautiful view." No doubt you would agree with that descriptor.
