From the street, this museum looks somewhat small, but... there are additional buildings & grounds to see! We (daughter & I) visited in Jan 2017 & had a great time! The front building is only a small portion of the museum grounds - there are 2 MUCH larger buildings as well as some things to see on the grounds. Also,... More

When my wife and I drove by, we were not driven to see this museum from the view along highway 49...however once we stopped and saw the 5 separate buildings that are behind the main building we knew this was going to be impressive and it was! Wow, really learn what happened back in the 1800's here and see what... More

An excellent representation of 19th century Americana. there is a terrific display of wagons, buggies, and hearse. Additional volunteers would enhance the exhibits. There is an variety of merchandise for purchase. This is a definite place to help children become aware of America's past. A gold panning option is available.

Museum was fun and exciting especially watching kid's try their hand at gold panning! The transportation exhibit was my favorite, and the story of Mr. Greeley taking a ride on the stage coach is funny.

A lot more to see than what you see at street level. Gives great insight into the history of the area as well as America in the gold rush era. Staff well informed and helpful. Allow a few hours to take in everything from Mark Twain to vehicles of the day to mining history. Great to take in at the... More

Spent 3 days in late October at the Angels Camp Museum. With so much to see, it's easy to spend hours there. Started in the main building where they have an old wood burning kitchen stove. The original cost was just a couple dollars purchased new approximately a century ago. Also many articles about Mark Twain and of course articles... More

Went with my mom. Museum has four buildings, encompassing history, antique cars and stage coaches, mining, medicine, tools, and of course, Frog Jumping (Mark Twain, Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County.... well this is the place, and I didn't even know that when I planned the vacation.) Admission $7, and for $5 extra, you can learn how to pan for... More

Our group had the best guide and tour through this gem of a museum! Chuck (our docent) and the friendly staff gave us a history lesson of early California and the intrepid settlers who came to make their fortune in the California Gold Rush in the 1800's. We ended our tour in the Mark Twain exhibit - plan to spend... More

It's much more extensive than we expected, with three full buildings and outdoor exhibits. I came away with a much greater appreciation for the area's Gold Rush history.
