Hiked up from Maroon Bells with a picnic. Gentle incline, but technical because of the rocks. It took us several hours and is not for the out of shape. Been up here when the lake is full. Not so this time. Still beautiful and worth...More

This trail is so rocky that it makes for very difficult walking. I had a sore foot and all the rocks on this trail made it so much worse. Walking on a flat surface would have been okay. Unless you are fit and part mountain...More

We were under the impression that this was an easy trail...it was not. Not being acclimated to the elevation and being out of shape didn’t help either. I made it to the top though. Breath taking views and worth the trip. The lake was dried...More

This is a great hike if you want to see the Maroon Bells up close. Crater Lake itself may be dried up depending on the time of year (and the amount of snow the previous winter), but it's really the Bells that are the main...More

This trail is made more difficult because of the rocks. It does not gain much elivation and can be hiked by most anyone in reasonable physical condition. Good hiking boots, trekking poles, first aide kit, and plenty of water is a must. Go early to...More

Went on the Crater Lake Trail which was an easy hike to a lake with the beauty of the Maroon Bells in the background. Since the summer was a bit hotter, much of the lake was dried up, but the the Maroon Bells was worth...More

While there are pretty views at this trail, it isn't the most well maintained and can be rocky in places. I wouldn't say this is enjoyable.

Tiny, mostly dried up lakebed. Good views to the mountain peaks beyond but the lake is a disappointment. Perhaps it depends on the time of year and snowfall from the previous winter.

This is one of the worst maintained trails in Colorado. Due to extremely busy traffic, the trail is rocky, worn an unpleasant. The Crater Lake view later in the season may be disappointing, as late in the season there is little (or almost none) water...More

So take the hike up. Many views along the way as well. It is just a more "grand" and closeup view of the Bells from here for sure. Hike is not to be missed. And don't worry about being out of shape this is a...More

It's over a mile. I'm in pretty good shape and am prepared for the altitude. It's an easy hike, won't take long at all. An hour and a half or so
