The view here is unbelievable, we hiked up to the lake which was 1.4 miles each way. It was quite a strenuous trip but worth it. I would recommend taking a lot of water and getting there between 7 and 8 am so you can...More

Based upon what I heard, read, and seen pictures of, I could not wait to visit Maroon Bells. And often times when expectations are so high, reality doesn't meet these lofty expectations. Happily, that is not the case. I, as well as my wife, daughter,...More

We absolutely loved our visit here. We walked a scenic loop after arriving around 10 am and encountered around 20 others. Suddenly at 11 am there were 100 people, arrived while we were walking. Go as early as you can. Be aware, the GPS set...More

We camped in this area at the Silver Queen campground (site 3) for four nights and absolutely enjoyed our stay. The sites were very large with lots of privacy. Our site had a path down to the creek with a little area where the water...More

Make sure you go early and reserve enough time out of your visit. Last shuttle leaves at 5:00. So cool. Most beautiful sight ever. Don't miss it. You'll regret it. Go early or drive in after 5:00.

This is known to be one of the most photographed spots - and for good reason. The hike up to Crater Lake is moderately difficult but worth the effort.

Our family of 18 (ages 1-68) arrived at Maroon Lake a couple of hours before sunset, found a perfect spot and laid out our picnic supplies. Some of our group hiked a bit, others just enjoyed this unique spot of spectacular mountain scenery only 20...More

This is one of my favorite places to go for a hike. The Bells are beautiful, the lake, the wildflowers, I saw a moose up close. You can go for an easy hike or push your self deeper into the back country for a more...More

Incredible 360 Degree views. Not crowded and only takes about an hour to walk the trail. Every picture you take here looks like a postcard!

We decided to go to maroon Bells on June 12 during the week to avoid big crowds . We plan on driving up in morning for the day and staying overnight before we drive home. Any suggestions on lodging nearby?

Hotel Jerome in Aspen or any hotel in Aspen is close enough, by the way, hotel Jerome offers a free Mercedes SUV for your trip to the bells.

As noted above, the road and shuttle bus (you ride for a fee) are not yet open for vehicle or boarding traffic. The hike up is well worth the effort though so I would very much encourage you to bundle up, pack some snacks... More

We were there the second week of October and the weather was gorgeous. We stayed at the St. Regis, however, they can be pricey. There are several other places with lovely lountain views that can be more economical.
