We have hiked over to Crested Butte from here taking us about 8-9 hours because we take so many photographs especially when we've done it in the fall.

So we went up here in the office season, and according to their site you were supposed to be able to drive to the trail head and park close by since it was the off season the road wasn't supposed to have driving restrictions. Went the first week of May. Driving restrictions aren't supposed to happen until July. Got there... More

Loved the hike. We did the shorter trail one day and then returned to hike to Crater Lake. Loved it. Not easy but not terrible. Hubby and I are 60 plus in decent shape but not athletes. We did fine. Just not a fast trip.

I have hiked Maroon Bells in the summer and it is unbelievable, but now I have snowshoed it in the winter and it is breathtaking! The snowshoe is 3 miles longer each way since they have to close the road in the winter, so make sure you bring plenty of water and some snacks to keep you going. Whether you... More

Easy to get to, and very beautiful. Was a bit steep and had shale-type rocks in some places so best to take poles if a bit unsteady.

It is a very short walk to the opening. Parking and restrooms available. The water was crystal clear when we were there, and a great reflection on the lake. If you are in Aspen, it is worth the drive to the area.

Excellent, easy, scenic trail through spectacular mountain valley filled with fall color was delightful. Try to go early in the morning so you can watch the shadows creep down the western side of the valley.

A perfect mix of some aspens still yellow, a constantly changing sky of bright blue sky and billowy clouds and rustle of chilly winds.
