The aspen trees were just starting to turn color and would have been spectacular if it was sunny. Even though it was gray and wet, the trail was easy to negotiate and the views were wonderful.

Never at Maroon Lake before, absolutely beautiful area, worth a day trip over from Glenwood Springs or Leadville.

We spent an afternoon strolling and taking pictures here. The weather was perfect and there weren't tons of people. We would have liked to venture to Ashcroft Ghost Town 20 mins away but decided to linger here.

We were there for the fall colors and it was incredible. Do the hikes - they are great and not as many people on the hiking trails.

Great hike to Crater Lake, but the water level was quite low - less waterfalls in late Fall!

This is not an easy hike, but it is worth it. I am not in great shape and the uphill walk took about 2 1/2 hours. Once we reached Crater Lake I layed down in the grass with my head against a fallen tree and...More

A wonderful place. Scenery, weather, flora all combined to make this one of the special memories of our short tour of Colorado. Paths were well signposted and negotiable without difficulty. Also plenty of chat with other walkers. Only niggle - toilets very pungent, but perhaps...More

Wonderful hike to one of the most beautiful site in America. Park Service charges $10 per car-well worth it.

My family has hiked this trail several times, & we are always awestruck by the beauty. September is gorgeous with the Aspens turning gold, but the weather can be iffy. Part of the trail is steep & rocky, but overall a moderate hike. Pack a...More

Get there at sunrise and watch the sun light up the mountain tops and reflect into Maroon Lake and have that camera ready! Lots of photographers for one of the best pictures ever. It's cold this time of year, so dress warmly, bring your coffee...More

Yes, the Disabled placard is one of the exceptions for users who can drive into the Maroon Bells area. There is a $10 recreation use fee. See stayaspensnowmass for more details

I dont know about the parking but i can tell you about the trail. It is narrow at some points (need to move in a single file, one after another) and wider at other points. It is definitely rocky but not very steep. I mean... More
