That is a beautiful road and well worth a drive. The nature is just stunning. Take your time, as the traffic was pretty bad.

There are many things to see while visiting Colorado...the Rocky Mountains, ghost towns, Rocky Mountain National Park, the Black Canyon of the Gunnison, Bent's Old Fort, Maroon Bells, Pike's Peak, Mesa Verde, Royal Gorge, Garden of the Gods, Four Corners, Trail Ridge Road, Seven Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. Whatever you do, however, make sure... More

We took Independence pass this last year for a trip to Aspen, and was delighted to watch a sunset over the Rocky Mountains unlike anything we have ever seen before. It was truly breathtaking and I kick myself every time I think about it for not taking any photos.. However this drive is not for those that have issues with... More

Took the Independence Pass to Aspen from Denver. What beautiful scenery. It really is a must do. Don't listen to the people who say the road is scary it's not true. The road isn't that narrow just take it slow.

In the heart of summer don't expect to zip over Independence Pass. This road is meant to be enjoyed and shared, you'll want to stop and capture some photos along the way!

One of the most beautiful drives in Colorado. The top of the pass has an observation deck which you should stop to check out, be sure to go there with a jacket since it's high elevation makes it really cold. If you are not comfortable driving narrow roads I wouldn't recommend do in it since it can be a stressing... More

This drive is so beautiful we did it 3 times over the course of a long weekend. Plenty of places to pull off for photos or hiking. Don't expect to drive quickly in the fall! Remember to drive up to the ghost mining town for a look around as well!

I drove all over Colorado on vacation and didn't see a road that wasn't breathtaking, if not a little scary if your not used to them. My advice is take your time, enjoy and follow the speed limit signs.

You're above the tree line, so at the summit to Independence Pass can appear somewhat barren if there is no snow. The 12,000 plus elevation will wind you if you run around or exert yourself. This area is an excellent gateway to explore more back county like the hike to Mount Evans, one of the highest mountains in the lower... More
