    Was disappointed
First went to Secret Beach in 2019. Loved it. Could hardly get me away from there. Then....the whole world started going there. Went up that way to check out the new large beach bar/restaurant. The food there was good and, when I was done...I left. That place is just too noisy and jam-packed for my liking. I know that is what some folks are in to, but not me. It was wall to wall people. I guess if you like very packed, touristy places like Murtle Beach or such, you will like this place. To me, the large crowds and development have ruined it. Such is the case with every nice place it seems. lol. Still, definitely worth checking out if you are staying on Ambergris.

    A great beach!
Lovely clean beach with warm water! It’s a jaunt to get there, but well worth the trip. There is a beach bar - food is good and drinks are good but service the day we were there was slow. Lots of seating on the beach and in the water.

There are still great places to chill
Secret Beach is a misnomer. At the north end you have a bunch of bars and restaurants that cater to the Spring Break Party Hardy crowd. At the south end, you still have bars and restaurants but less of them and a much mellower vibe. We prefer the latter and suggest Sunset Beach Club is the best place to go. The beach is great in and out of the water and there are a fair number of loungers, picnic tables, tables and chairs for you to use. And the food at Sunset Beach Club is really excellent, supported by better than average service. My rating reflects the whole Secret Beach area. Sunset Beach Club rates much, much higher in my books. One final note. Despite you may have been told that the road has been fixed, the road to Secret Beach is still bumpy and extremely potholed. You need a cart with good ground clearance and shocks.

I'm glad we found it but I don't need to return
The Secret Beach area is lovely but crowded. There are lots of lounge chairs that are available to all, several places along the beach to eat & drink. Loud, almost annoying, music is played from one of the bars, and there is a water playground with inflatables nearby as well. You can park anywhere and walk amongst the different establishments fairly easy. The water is lovely, warm & shallow. Several strolling vendors wander through selling various products and there is a spot where some are set up like a vendor market selling wood products, jewelry, paintings, etc. The locals named this place years ago but unfortunately the word got out & now the tourists have discovered & go there more than the locals. If you are staying at a resort facility with a nice swimming area, you may prefer just staying there instead of venturing down the very bumpy road to Secret Beach. If you like a crowded party atmosphere, then you'd like Secret Beach.

Beautiful water, good (but pricey) food and drinks.
A bit of a drive, especially if you’re staying south of town. The beach and water are awesome, although the water bugs (sand fleas? Leaches?) are annoying and they do bite when you’re out swimming. Food and drinks are good, but pricey. Great service and fun atmosphere. They do provide shaded seating and partially submerged tables and chairs for in-water dining. It was a fun experience overall.

Really not worth all the hype
Honestly not worth all the hype. We were there this week and I was quite disappointed. All the reviews about bugs, leaches and rough conditions of all the bars and facilities are true. Shared nasty bathrooms ect. Im not prissy but we drove past alot better places to stop and enjoy the day on the way to secret beach. The social media folks do a great job promoting the spot because i was expecting alot more and in person it is a let down and we stopped at all the bars out there trying to find one we wanted to hang out at. You spend money to get there and once you’re there remember your gona pay double for food and drink cause it cost them to get that stuff out there and you have no were else to go. Love the island love the people live the water but just don’t set your sites to high about secret beach. You’ll probably wish you stayed at your resort/ hotel and partied and didn’t rattle your kidneys loose.

    It was ok…
Secret Beach is quite a distance from town on unpaved roads. Interesting view while getting there via golf cart. It was ok. Warm water, some sea lice. Live music, lots of Americans, some dogs. Didn’t order food but there was covered seating. Large bar. Several different areas of Secret Beach. Lots of covered lounge chairs. Looked clean and safe.

    Watch out for Sea Lice!!!
Beautiful beaches, amazing resort style clubs, and lovely clear blue water....but seasonally they have really bad Sea Lice or as locals call them, sea cockroaches!!! They are like little slimy snot maggots that attache to your skin when you walk in the water, especially when you stir up the sand. You have to pull them off your body and its terrifying and disgusting. We literally drove 40 minutes from town, slathered on sun screen, ordered a drink and went in the water....in 30 seconds we came running out and were mortified! We packed up and left the beach after finishing our drink. We were so disappointed. Im told they are bad June through August but I can only confirm June/July timeframe they are there!

    Secret Beach
I enjoyed the different opportunities like a massage and kids water obstacle course. I was disappointed with the wild side of young teenagers drinking and intruding on relaxation and safety. Poorly supervised. 45 minutes golf cart ride from where we stayed, The Palms Ocean Front Suites😅

A Fun Time, Loved The Experience
I had never seen anything like this, where you could eat on the after, the beach chairs and umbrellas were free and the water was so clear you could see fish swimming around you. Our children were able to find some sea creatures and learn more about them, including some hermit crabs and conch. We had a lot of fun. Other than kids trying to sell us stuff, we had an excellent time. We were nervous about taking a golf cart 50 minutes from the resort, but it ended up being safe and okay. I definitely recommend staying close to other carts going in and leaving when others start leaving so you can feel safe. We had fun!

The idea is pretty cool with the lounge chairs. And there are enough shaded areas to be able to relax for hours and have fun with friends. But there really were not many tables in the water and those were all taken, even on a slower Monday when there were many lounge chairs open.

This is where I purchased my one and only $14 (US) drink of the trip. They capitalize on the fact that there aren't many great beach spots on Ambergris Caye. I'm sure it would be fun to hang out with some friends there if You're looking for a party vibe, just be ready for what you're getting into. Toast is a much better option for beachfront drinks.

We arrived at Secret Beach for sunset as I had seen recommended online ... but everything was closing up. Happy Island Beach Bar & Grill offered to make us some food although they were just closing so we were relieved. HOWEVER, after making us a family size platter of shrimp nachos, they then charged us $100 Belize ($50 USD) which is the biggest rip off that we have ever experienced on any holiday ever (as well as getting the order toppings wrong). In addition there were wasps everywhere. Absolutely do not recommend this place to anyone.

The beach and water are beautiful. Sandy bottom and clear blue water.
Lots of different restaurants. We went to two. The one on the north side by the water park. Food and service were great. Medic service was also quick and helpful when my son stepped on an earring in the ocean! Kids loved the waterpark (wibit).
We moved to the farthest south location- called sunset palace. The washrooms were filthy and the food was mediocre and took forever.
Overall it’s a long drive on a bumpy road. You run a bit of a gauntlet of restaurants trying to get you to stay there, and vendors. I would go once for the experience, but not more than that.

We went here in research of a “real” beach and this was definitely better than the Split on Caye Caulker. You can actually walk out into the water. We rented a jet ski & paddle board and played beach paddle ball in the shallow water.
Would NOT recommend the main restaurant, Secret Beach Bar & Grill. After our order for two simple dishes still hadn’t arrived after 40 minutes, we canceled it and walked down to Coco Grande where they took great care of us.

We hung out at Secret Beach for a couple of hours while visiting San Pedro. It has a nice vibe with different areas to visit. You had water activities, water tables, literally in the water. If you wanted to just lounge then you had that option. Food and music was great. I liked that the vendors weren't pushy, if you told them no, then they moved on.

Fun place. Lots of seats, drinks and good water. Road there is rough but worth it. Better to get there by 10 for good seats.

This not so secret beach is a must visit. We went out a couple times.. the drive out was an adventure in itself.. seeing the north side of San Pedro and the mangroves. Once we arrived to Secret beach we found a table in the water at one of the beach restaurants. Pirates not so secret grill. Enjoyed some beers in the water and ceviche. Has a massage on the beach and just enjoyed the calm water and fish swimming around us. Was fun and relaxing!

It is a long ride in golf carts to this semi-popular beach on Ambergris Caye. Miles of construction and destruction of mangrove fields and natural habitats on dirt roads to get to what amounts to nothing more than another thatched-roof bar. The people are nice; even extremely nice but the beach and the water are not nearly as good as the clear water on the Gulf side of the island.
