Very pretty tour! The tour guides were great and very informative! You can climb on the Ruins as long as weather is pretty. Be careful on the steps. Very steep!!

Tour of the city and Altun Hu ruines. The tour guide (Lady) was funny and informative. We even tried the royal rat. It tastes like pork roast. It was relaxing on the drive to the ruines, and light walking to get there.

It's very safe. Tour companies are best. There really are no crowds since the area is so large.

I would say they aren't that winding. At least not the route that we took. I don't recall any mountainous roads. I think your kid will be fine.
