We were staying at Birds Eye View lodge and had 24/7 access to the lagoon for the 3 days we were there. Absolutely amazing diversity of birds and animals. Be sure to take the early morning 3 hour Bird watching tour and be prepared to be blown away even if you are not an avid "birder".

We flew over from San Pedro to the international airport and my wife wanted to see some birds. Seeing that Crooked Tree was only 30-40 minutes from the airport, we drove our rental out there up the very quiet Northern Highway. After turning left you drive for about 3 miles down a dusty road to the Crooked Tree reserve. We... More

In a matter of one month I visited the Sanctuary three time. Each time the experience was different though with the same guide (Rudy). Rudy was excellent and if you go there ask for him at the Bird Eye resort. The Sanctuary is located about 38 miles north of Belize City and it take about an hour drive. Once in... More

We absolutely loved our visit here. The staff was generous with their tips and genuinely so wanted us to see the special birds here. And so happy when we did! Both Derrick and his assistant were great. We mentioned to Derrick that we wanted to see a particular bird and HE RAN DOWN THE TRAIL where we were to tell... More

We squeezed in a quick 45 minute stop at Crooked Tree Wildlife Sanctuary,. The visitor center, operated by guides from the Audubon society, had an informative display about the birds and wildlife found in the area, as well as the local cashew nut production. To help maximize our short time, one of the guides gave us a short walk and... More

We stayed in Becks B&B as our first stop in Crooked Tree (because of it's central location) while driving from Mexico. We spent some time at the Crooked Tree Wildlife Sanctuary next morning. If you are not big into birds, I'd suggest skipping this.

We stayed at Birds Eye View Lodge in Crooked Tree. They are a family run resort right on the estuary. With your morning coffee in your hand you can wander out onto the lawn and see many many different birds. We took a boat up to Lamanai Mayan ruin which provide an opportunity to see more birds and igaunas, A... More

Jenn and I enjoy hiking and photographing the national parks in America, so when we were planning to visit Belize, Crooked Tree grabbed our attention. It did not disappoint. I'll leave a review for the tour company that got us to CTWS on the appropriate page (they were great and the local Audubon guide could not have been more knowledgeable,... More

If you love nature, wildlife, hiking, birding or just a great boat ride on the Belize River, this is the perfect spot. Arguably the best birding site in Belize, this sanctuary ran by the Audubon Society is simply one of a kind.
