Couldn't leave Belize City without visiting the museum. It was a nice brief history including the slavery trade and not so bright beginnings of Belize's history. Authentic and nice venue, since the bldg was once a jail! Was worth the price.

This is a small museum, but it gives you a good feel for how Belize was settled. They also have a small collection of Mayan artifacts in clay and jade.

The museum itself is very nice although some of the walls are definitely overdue for a paint job, especially upstairs which is bordering on shabby. Nice exhibit. Website also needs an update because they don't even list prices or opening hours, nor current exhibits. Worth...More

If you are a traveler that prefers to walk everywhere, be careful of the pushy panhandlers and tour bus companies that may try to harass you on the streets near the museum. They are harmless, but also very persuasive! Once you get inside the museum,...More

I'd disagree with the other posters. Belize City is not the safest place, and taking a wrong turn (even in day time) can lead you to places where you might feel insecure. Take a cab (they're inexpensive).

YES! All areas are easy to navigate, the streets outside may be trickier though
