Spend the day in the jungle and caves on this private caving adventure....

Spend the day in the jungle and caves on this private caving adventure. Visit the caves of Actun Halal & Chapat seeing and visualizing the past when the Mayan's used these cave for their ceremonial rituals. Gaze at huge formations and rooms that were formed ions ago. Incredible/ mystical/ beautiful/ and mysterious. Located on my private property, you will ride in the Rover 6 miles over a track that once was used by chicleros. Not a "tour", more of a trip with new friends. After walking through huge chambers and rooms you will reach the "skylight". Here, with sunlight and fresh air streaming in you can satisfy your hunger with fresh-homemade burritos, and take a well-deserved rest. After exploring and enjoying the environment further, head back to the rover to enjoy an ice cold beer, soft drink or water. I like to share this trip with the people that enjoy doing something different, getting off the beaten tourist trail. It is a special place, one that should be experienced. Please email for details as this trip is NOT for everyone. It requires a sense of adventure, love of nature, a level of endurance and physical coordination.

This is a very long day adventure. Lots of hiking but the cave is huge! Not much pottery to see, but it was beautiful to be lost inside this huge ceremonial cave, with the only the light of our headlamps to guide us. Makes you wonder how the ancient Mayan did it! :)

I have to give my husband credit; he found Belizean Sun Tours and Actun Chapat. Amidst the proliferation of web entries about the ATM cave experience, he found the real gem! An opportunity to explore a cave system full of history and beauty without any of the commercialization or crowding. A personal experience; just us and our guide for a... More

We spent a day underground exploring Actun Chapat with Ken (the owner) and Leo, who was a great guide! I loved the fact it was just our family exploring the cave. This is NOT the tour for you if you don't like climbing, rock scrambling and being active all day. The cave itself was beautiful with huge underground caverns. The... More

The day trip to visit this cave operated by Belizean Sun Tours is hands down the most impressive caving experience offered in the country of Belize. I've poked around at least a dozen caves in the area and the number of artifacts combined from those other caverns can't compare to what you'll experience in this single location. History and adventure... More

This is a fun experience. I wanted to explore a big cave and chose Actun Chapat rather than ATM because so fewer people visited it. We got a private tour by Ken with only a days notice. Ken is from the same state of 'Colorado as we were so we immediately hit it off. The ride out in the old... More

Our journey started with a ride in an old Land Rover back into the jungle on a rough 4x4 road. After being thoroughly shaken, bounced and tossed, we set off walking through the jungle with Ken and Leo. Throughout the day they graciously shared their passion and knowledge and it was like going exploring with friends who were showing you... More

Please do not miss this private tour though Actun Halal and Actun Chapat. Ken is the owner of the land where the caves' entrances are. He drove us 6 miles through the jungle on rugged terrain in his land rover. We were accompanied by probably the best local guide ever. His name is Leo. As Leo walked us through the... More

We've just finished the San Ignacio portion of our trip and I feel as though I need to take some time to write this review while the amazement and wonder of these caves are still fresh in my mind :) Our family (myself, my husband and two daughters ages 10 and 8) had the pleasure of touring these hidden gems... What an adventure. Master adventurer Ken Dart has to be one of the nicest guys around. A crazy 4x4 ride through pristine jungle, brought us to this amazing cave. Way better then ATM! This cave is huge and has large caverns, and a few lakes inside. The formations are fabulous and will leave a lasting impression on your mind. We... More

Probably the most memorable thing we did on our trip to Belize. It was just the two of us and Ken. His passion for the cave is infectious, and at times it felt lilke the 3 of us were exploring the cave for the first time together. Seeing the evidence of Mayan--especially the burn marks, bones, and other evidence of... More
