My wife and I were guided by Ben from the Mystic River Resort into this amazing cave. We had to swim across 3 creeks before getting to the cave entrance. My wife is not a strong swimmer and had no problem getting across. The first creek crossing was the longest, and had a rope to help you swim to the... More

Really this is a 6 star review! My wife and I have traveled around the world and this was one of the most amazing adventures we have ever had. Note you can ONLY do this with a tour guide and there are a limited number of licensed guides so book in advance. We had Patrick from Belize Nature Travel and... More

I visited this with a group of 13 this past week. The maximum group size is actually 8 so they split us up between two guides. In order to explore this cave you have to use one the trained guides and make reservations in advance. There are only about 20 or so guides leading trips in this cave and a... More

This cave is everything you read and still more! Took the kids and husband and each of us was amazed, challenged and so glad we did this. It takes some athletic ability, but more an embracing of the new and adventurous. You have to swim, climb, squirm, walk barefooted in the complete dark and be constantly amazed to get through... Completely unique experience. Do not miss this!! It is not easy, but everyone in our group was able to complete the entire hike.

It's probably the best attraction Belize has to offer. It made our trip memorable. This tour will definitely be the highlight of your Better Belize It experience and such a tour will be illegal or banned in NA or Europe because of the liability involved. Truly unique experience. We took Mayawalk (the more expensive one) - take the tour from... More

If you're visiting Belize you MUST do this. This cave tour was the highlight of my trip and is honestly one of the coolest things I've ever done. The mix of active adventure and archaeology is incredibly unique. For the young and/or fit: Don't read the detailed reviews - it will spoil the sense of adventure. Just do it!!! For... More

We spent our Honeymoon at Maya Mountain Lodge and loved our day trip to the ATM cave. It was an exhilarating experience crossing rivers and hiking through the jungle to get to the cave. Jumping into the pool at the cave entrance was a blast, and navigating through the cave is an adventurer's dream. Our guide, Raphael, was a local... More

I can't believe they let tourists into this place. Words don't begin to describe how awesome this place is. The caving all by itself would be awesome, and then you get to the Maya ceremonial site, and then you see the bones and skeletons. This is a must do activity if you're in Belize.

If you're lucky enough to partake in this experience, it is a highly adventurous, strenuous, exciting journey into and out of the cave, all the time wading in the river, navigating the stalagmites, until you get to the climax-- the 1000 year old ritual area with actual intact skeletons and pottery.
