WOW! What a treasure!! We didn't even know it was going on and had an impromptu overnight in San Ignacio on a Friday, learned about the market later that evening over some beers at Eva's and then woke a little earlier to enjoy the sights,...More

A great town market you want to experience on your way to the Mayan ruins at the top of the hill. Tremendous variety of local produce.

Definitely true that on Saturday is the best. On other days are still active with locals buying meat and produce. There are a few souvenir stalls open but they aren’t much. I went here because I had an extra hour or two but ended up...More

Enjoyed the market - lots to look at, lots of energy. Hit it on a Saturday of course. A great way to stock up on food (especially fruit and snacks). Best purchase was the fresh squeezed orange juice. Just $1BZ and the best I've ever...More

Good for produce and cooked food. There are a few stalls selling local handicrafts and souvenirs. Not much for locally-made clothing. Head to the permanent stalls right behind the big San Ignacio sign and dine at Pupuseria Rinconsito Dr Dona Blanca. Yummy and cheap!

This is a great little market just outside the downtown core. It's great to stroll through the stalls and browse through the various goods being sold by local merchants. We stopped by a few stalls and picked up fresh produce for dinner later that evening....More

This market is awesome on a Saturday! It is hustling and bustling. There are many food stands in the middle of the market which serve cheap, delicious food! Find out where the line is or where to order then take a seat. As for fruits,...More

Enjoyed a leisurely stroll through the market on Friday morning - this is not peak time (Saturday being the busiest) but it was lively and thriving after the holidays. Most of the stalls were fresh produce which is great if staying and preparing meals with...More

Yes, the fruit & veggies are there everyday during the week. On saturdays it's more of a swap meet with clothes & household items. All the booths have pretty much the same stuff. We buy at Balognas they have organic. It's... More

No, it is at least an hour away. And, frankly, it is not worth the hour drive. The San Ignacio market is really more of a shopping spot for locals, with lots of fresh produce. The clothing I saw was made in China and... More
